Hi I have had blood test tsh is one (range 0.4 to 5) and T4 is 14 ( range is 9 to 19). Also had an ultrasound which showed altered echotexture but no enlargement of thyroid. Are these results OK? Have symptoms of underactive thyroid but results all in range. Thanks

Welcome to the group.

The results that you have seem reasonable with your FT4 at 50%. There really isn't enough information though to see if anything might be happening. Your TSH is at 1 so no issues indicated there.

Have you had your thyroid antibodies tested? The NHS only test TPO but privately you can also test the Tg type.

Key vitamins are other factors that can affect how we feel.

Have you recently or could you ask your GP to test levels of ferritin, folate, B12 & D3? Private tests are available, see link for companies offering private blood tests & discount codes, some offer a blood draw service at an extra cost. thyroiduk.org/testing/priva...

There is also a new company offering walk in& mail order blood tests in London, Kent, Sussex & Surrey areas. Check to see if there is a blood test company near you. onedaytests.com/products/ul...

Only do private tests on a Monday or Tuesday to avoid postal delays.

For full Thyroid evaluation you need TSH, FT4 and FT3 tested

Also both TPO and TG thyroid antibodies tested at least once to see if autoimmune

Very important to test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12 at least once year minimum

Low vitamin levels are extremely common when hypothyroid, especially with autoimmune thyroid disease

Recommended that all thyroid blood tests early morning, ideally just before 9am, only drink water between waking and test

This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip)
