Recommendations for Betaine Hydrochloride please?

Can anyone recommend a good, reasonably priced and readily available betaine hydrochloride ? I have checked the Solgar one and it seems to be out of stock in most places and of varying prices.

Thanks.

This is the one I've been using: amazon.co.uk/Betaine-Hydroc... . I find it very effective for reflux. The strength of the different brands varies, so I think I tried to go for a middle strength one as far as I can remember. These are capsules (so can't be split) and you take one with a meal.

Than you for the recommendation, I will take a look shortly.

I got on well with this one.

solgar.co.uk/products/solga...

But since I’ve ordered all kinds from Amazon, Lindens among others they all do the same job for me.

Are you avoiding Pepsin? No reason for asking I always went for the ‘with Pepsin’ recommendation from Izabella Wentz 🌱

Thank you, no I am not avoiding Pepsin, or know much about it. The Solgar product is unfortunately out of stock, though available on Amazon but with a £9 delivery charge! I haven’t read any of the Isabella Wentz information, though I have seen her name mentioned before.

I was looking at this brand and not sure if it’s any good, really don’t know what to look out for?naturesbest.co.uk/digestive...

I’ve got that one on the drawer too 🤣 works well, tablets are quite large. Yes I think I had stock issues with Solgar when I went to reorder 👍🌱

I don't think there's any major differences between them. Just decide what strength you'd like to try, and either with or without pepsin. And check to make sure there's no other ingredients that might not agree with you. Good luck!

Great, thanks the reassurance I’m going to take the plunge.

Used to use the Lamberts brand as they are economical but tablets, not capsules.

Yes, I use that one, from Revital (10% off with thyroid UK discount) - I liked that it is a smaller dose per tablet so you can find out how much you need. Helps with reflux for me, I take 2.

No sorry but if it helps I found slippery elm powder relieves any gastritis.

Oh I did look at that brand as I use the Vit D by them, will give the others a go and then try this brand if I am not sure about the one I ordered.

My advice is to be very careful taking this. I took it in October last year because I thought I had low stomach acid but my suspicion is I actually had an H Pylori infection and I made it a lot worse. I think the betain triggered terrible gastritis that in turn triggered my current hyperthyroidism relapse. Since January I’ve been taking NowFoods Gastro Comfort (with mastic, zinc carnosine) from iHerb and it is very soothing and works so well.
