As if I hadn’t spent sufficient thousands on trying to find the answers I went and did a DI02 test to see whether I had difficulty in converting T4 to T3. Primarily to present my findings to the endo in the hope I may get Liothyronine on the NHS.
The result came back saying the TT genotype appears to have normal enzyme and I should manage effectively with T4 mono-therapy.
I have significantly struggled on T4 and NDT and now feel like I am making progress on only T3 …..with help from here!
As I seem to be feeling better on T3 should I ignore this latest result and carry on?
Many thanks

yup ignore test, even if you did, just having the allele mutation doesn’t mean you automatically develop the condition, there are lots of other factors and reasons you might not be converting well.
I’m sure other folks here will pitch in but here are mine….(I too do better on both T4 and T3.
Timings… I really can’t afford to eat anything for an hour after Levo.
Magnesium… taking this at night with split night Levo dose was a big no. Separate
Ferritin… this needs to be up and stable for me, otherwise fatigue sets in.
Gut health/liver health… optimal absorption from optimal conditions, I spent months following AI protocols and resolving gut health and work hard to maintain this.
Other vitamins, are your D,B12 &folate optimal? How about selenium and zinc?
There was a recent post about muscular hypothyroidism where there was a link between selenium antibodies and need for T3. I’ll try and find it 🌱
Thank you Regenallotment……there is so much too it and I have tried most things and am finding T3 is working best for me so far. I’m not even sure why I thought the test should change anything.
I think I would really like the support of a Dr/Endo, but to do that you have to conform!!!
And I won’t be doing that on a back of a test.
My vitamins and minerals are all optimal and I am working on my gut health.
Absolutely ignore test! I struggled for 7 very unsuccessful years on T4 monotherapy, when my TSH steadfastly refused to fall below 4.59, before my endo (now sadly retired) decided to try me on a trial of T3/T4 combo and I finally got my life back. The dosages have been tweaked over the following 12 years and I have now been at a point where 55mcg of T3/day (split into 2 doses) and just 25mcg of T4/day (around 3-4am when I need to get up for a pee) is keeping me well. When I was a bit flush with money ( a good month selling my art) I decided to do the Regenerus DIO2 test, just to check, and it came back negative for any anomalies too and yet I had still been struggling to convert even on doses of T4 as high as 200mcg/day!
If the T3 helps you get your life back to some semblance of normal, fight tooth and nail to keep it!
Thank you Zephyrbear…….. I just don’t know why I panicked and thought I should revert to T4!!! I think it’s because it would be so lovely for Levo to work and just get a monthly prescription and go along merrily!!
I shall keep to T3 and slowly adjust to dose until I find the best for me!
Thank you for your response and keep selling your Art!! 😊
