I am so pleased to let you know that The Guardian have now published Dr John Midgley's Obituary in their Other Lives section.
I had the pleasure of working with his daughter, Cath; his son, Ed; John's colleague, Terry Wilkins and Professor Rudolf Hoermann on this. I agree with Terry Wilkins who said to us, "...an excellent tribute to John’s courage and long campaign to get the best diagnoses and treatments for thyroid disease patients against much opposition by vested interest groups."
I know that he is much missed by everyone on this online community and he is very much missed by Thyroid UK.
Thank you for sharing this. He was an excellent beacon of light in a world of dim candles and his knowledge and authority on all matters thyroid related will be missed. Hopefully, he inspired enough people coming after him to ensure his legacy will live on and be built upon.
My sincere condolences to his family who lost, not only their father and grandfather, but their mother and grandmother so soon afterwards too.
lynmynott thanks for posting the excellent tribute to John Midgley. The world of thyroid research is so much poorer without him. Is there anyone in the wings stepping into his shoes?
Sincere condolences to all the family, friends and co researchers.
