Apologies if this is already been discussed at length. I'm just wondering if anyone on here has had this test? If so, where? Was it useful in your diagnosis? There only seems to be one place in the UK that does it. I'm a little dubious as it's only £15 according to their website!!

Agitator23,
Yes, many members have this genetic mutation (including myself) and believe it to be a contributory cause as to why Levothyroxine mono-therapy could not bring us wellbeing.
Some endos are more sympathetic than others but it really is a post code lottery as to whether you can get prescribed the essential T3 meds.
The DI02 test is offered by several UK companies and usually costs a lot more than £15. I would be wary of the credibility of your info.

Hi Radd. Thanks for your reply. Did the NHS do your test? If you don't mind my asking. Otherwise, I'm not easily finding private places online who do testing.
Agitator23,
I don't think the NHS even know what DI02 is!
I've had DI02 tested several times (luckily same result 😜) as it overlapped on tests, but the original I had was with Regenerus. However, I would recommend Blue Horizon as they are a bit cheaper and don't insist on the genetic counselling part.
ps - I investigated the £15 DI02 test and it appears that is Country Healths admin fee in addition to the actual £60 test charge which sounds more realistic.
Hi is the £15 test you’re referring to connected with Countryhealth by any chance? countryhealth.co.uk/product...
If so the £15 is misleading, that’s an admin charge which is levied in addition to the actual cost of the test, £60.
I’ve recently done a similar test and am awaiting the results. I used Blue Horizon and the test included a range of bio markers (I think that’s what they’re called??). It was a bit pricier but you get 15% off if it’s your first time ordering with them, plus the benefit of this test is that the results get sent straight to you (not a ‘practitioner’).

Good luck!
Regenerus are sadly no longer offering Dio2
So the only option now is Blue Horizon
I had the Dio2 test several years ago and discovered I've inherited the polymorphism from both parents ((homozygous) which research shows has a greater impact on T4 to T3 conversion than a heterozygous result
I used Blue Horizon...

A positive result has helped some here achieve a T3 prescription.
I was already self treating with T3 before the test but it confirmed what I suspected
The following will help you understand the results...

Good luck!
hi there it can’t be £15 I did it for £145 years ago !!!!
I got mine done by mthfr-genetics.co.uk/ . It costs £129 at the moment. Includes lots of other data too which is very interesting.
Hi, I had the dio2 test done and got the result that I had inherited two polymorphisms from Mum and Dad which was a surprise. I used Regenerus two years ago. My GP and an Endo refused to take any notice of the result using the excuses that a) it was not done in an NHS laboratory and
b) Just because it says you have those genetic issues does not mean anything, it's a very new area of research!
I still obtain my t3 independently. Regards
My NHS endocrinologist would not consider prescribing T3 until I had this test carried out but the NHS would not fund it!!! I had it through regenerus a year or so ago
