Hi there I have purchased this test and have received the pack, however it is a bit short on instructions. It just says rub your inside cheeks against your teeth before you spit into the small collecting cup.
Do you have to leave a time between last eating/drinking before you do the test?
Also I have requested follow up counselling when the results are in but the instructions do not mention this , is that usual?
They do have my email address so would I be right in assuming they will contact me to arrange a consultation when the results are in?
Many thanks in advance. X

Hi I've just bought the test too and agree 're instructions. It says leave half an hour after food, drink, smoking before test. The rubbing teeth bit, I think that's if you are not producing saliva as it also says have a bit of sugar to make mouth water and won't affect test. I'm assuming they contact us when test has been done as it s the counsellor who gives the results. Hope that helps
See slowdragon's reply re B complex vitamins I can't see any mention of them on the instructions but I'm going to lay off them for a week just to be sure.
I think I'll err on the side of caution and not take any for a week just to be safe. Good luck with your test I hope it gives you the answers you need.
Yes it's a genetic test, you provide a saliva sample, it has nothing to do with the T3 you are taking, but it can identify whether you have a gene defect which may affect your ability to convert T4 (levothyroxine) into the bio available T3.
So glad you mentioned the B complex and the need to avoid taking it for a week before the test. I can't see it mentioned anywhere on the instructions but I'll not take it for a week just to be on the safe side.
Do they ask when they can call you when you get the results?
Thanks, I was not aware you could pay for the counselling afterwards.
I was hoping to bypass the endocrinologist and/GP altogether as they have not been especially sympathetic to prescribing T3. Endo happy to monitor me if I buy my own T3 from "anywhere".
But thanks for the heads up regarding phoning them.
