HI all

Just had yet another pointless conversation with my doctor . Can someone tell me where i can get a full vitamin blood test to do at home please.

I think i may be lacking something as i have joint aches and terrible mid evening slumps but my GPs answer is to resume taking Sertraline....i feel fine mentaly and that's why i stopped taking it and it was also pushing up my TSH level , which has lowered since stopping back in Feb .

I just fed up of feeling these aches and restless legs and evening exhaustion slumps

Any advice would be great . I don't really know what to do next and thought that at least testing my vitamin levels may help

thank you all 🙂

Not suggesting you should go back on anti-depressants, but pushing up the TSH is not necessarily a bad thing because if you were depressed, it sounds like you were under-medicated, anyway. And a high TSH is the way to get an increase in dose, because that's about all doctors look at.

TSH reducing without the corresponding increase in your Frees is definitely a bad thing.

Restless legs is frequently low iron/ferritin and or low magnesium

Joint pain low vitamin D and/or inadequate dose Levo and/or gluten

What vitamin supplements are you currently taking

When were vitamin levels last tested

Test 6-8 weeks after any significant changes, eg starting or stopping antidepressants or HRT

Or any dose change or brand change in levothyroxine

75mcg levothyroxine is low dose, unless you are extremely petite

Recommended that all thyroid blood tests early morning, ideally just before 9am, only drink water between waking and test and last dose levothyroxine 24 hours before test

This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip)

Private tests are available as NHS currently rarely tests Ft3 or all relevant vitamins
