Please reread your previous post here

Is your GP aware you are also taking T3

On almost any dose of T3 TSH will be very low or suppressed

Essential to test Ft4 and Ft3 with correct timings

tests early morning, ideally just before 9am, only drink water between waking and test and last dose levothyroxine 24 hours before test

This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip)

T3 ….day before test split T3 as 2 or 3 smaller doses spread through the day, with last dose approximately 8-12 hours before test

is this how you did this test

My dr said this ( low TSH) is really dangerous

Your doctor is an idiot who is clueless about thyroid hormones and potentially a problem for thyroid patients

Sorry to be so blunt but I'm getting increasingly tired of seeing treatment like this meted out by medics who should know better.

We have to be one step ahead of this nonsense

Medics seem to think that low TSH automatically indicates a hyper state.

It doesn't.... it's high FT3 that indicates this. Your FT3 is fine!

In wrongly concluding that low TSH indicates hyperthyroidism they imagine this increases the risk of osteoporosis and heart problems....this is why your doctor wrongly thinks low TSH is really dangerous.

Once medication is initiated TSH is no longer a reliable marker.

And once T3 is introduced both TSH and FT4 naturally fall.

S/he should know this

Have you optimised vit D, vit B12, folate and ferritin to support thyroid function.

FT3 followed by FT4 are the important numbers

Your FT3 is only 50% through the reference range so you are not overmedicated...or in any danger.

So long as FT3 is within range you are unlikely to be overmedicated....and certainly not hyperthyroid!

You can calculate this here...

Follow SlowDragon's advice below re testing and do not accept a dose change based on TSH

Sadly for us hypo patients doctors dont seem able to differentiate TSH being low due to taking external thyroid hormones, especially T3, which naturally lowers or suppresses TSH, and those with hyperthyroidism who can have dangerously high levels of FT4/FT3. Which can be dangerous and needs treatment.

We all get bunched together and doctors clutching their pearls and telling us we are going to die of heart failure or multiple fractures 😒. Its a disgrace that several years at medical school doesnt equal them knowing the difference.

jparsss TSH is not a thyroid hormone it is a pituitary hormone. My TSH has been 0.005 for the last 12 years. I couldn't get well on T4 alone and now take T4 and T3, my TSH hasn't changed and I only look at T4 and T3 results which are always in range. Until training for docs changes and they are taught that we need our body to convert T4 to T3 which is what every cell in our bodies needs treatment for thyroid patients will not improve.

I have had the threats about heart issues and osteoporosis and my response was I prefer a life to existing. Too many of us on here have had to learn to advocate for ourselves and have tried to educate the medics. Occasionally there are chinks of light, there are GP's who will listen and learn.

Research has shown that a low TSH is not dangerous. Your GP was trained badly and has not kept up to date with the research. My TSH has been around your level for 10 years now, and I am still here.

I can bet he did not ask how you are feeling!
