I’m on a T3 trial and haven’t felt like myself on it since I started, my TSH is too low for my Endo, who will want to reduce my meds next week.
Has anyone gone down from 10mg to 5 mg and felt better?
My endo reduced my T4 to go on the trail and I’ve gotten her to increase it back up a little but I still don’t feel as good as I did on my higher T4 dose. I think the T3 might be helping in some ways it’s just not enough without the T4 there and the endo won’t let me increase my T4 again.
I don’t know if it’s my too low T4 or if I just don’t get on with T3 well, has anyone had this issue?
I’ve fought so hard for so long to get on T3 I’m scared of feeling worse if I come back off it completely, I’ll feel like I’ve failed.

I think i’m auto immune hashimotos because as of Dec 23 I have thyroglobulin antibodies at 232 on a range 0-115 and thyroid peroxidase antibodies at 94.3 on a range 0-34, is it right that I’m autoimmune with those ?
They’ve come down since I went gluten free, they were higher before but that was a couple of years ago now.
The last T4 results that I have from before I started T3 was last tested in May 23 ….those were TSH 0.36 on range 0.4-4.50 and T4 was 13.9 on a range 7-17.0 .
The hospital tested me before they put me on the T3 but they never gave me the results and I was so shocked at the time about them agreeing finally to put me on T3 that I was scared to ask and come across as pushy as I had a bad experience with the secretary accusing me of bad behaviour previously for asking questions and them threatening not to treat me. It really wobbled my confidence and upset me at the time especially since I’m quite calm and quiet by nature.
I always get the same brand Mercury Pharma…I’ve had to stick to that as a lot of other brands made me feel bad….do you think the brand of liothyronine might be making me feel off , like the other levothyroxine brands did?
Do you think swapping to the mercury pharma tablets might affect my TSH levels too , is it possible they might make my TSH higher again so I’m back in range ? Or am I clutching at straws? I think I’d feel better back on my higher dose of T4 but with 5mg of T3 too but that will push my TSH too low so the endo won’t go for it…
Go private and hope I find one ok with suppressed TSH?
I feel like I’ll have an impossible choice with her…. Come back off T3 and go back to my old T4 dose and have her all I told you so T3 isn’t the answer…or reduce either my current T4 or T3 to get back to her preferred levels and feel bad still….either way she’s won.
Sorry to sound so bitter and I just want to thank you for all the time you’ve taken replying to me x
I’ve been thinking about what you said and I think that’s a good idea for me to try on my next step, I’m going to ask to swap my T3 to Mercury Pharma and stay as I am for a bit , see how I feel on that one and then rethink/ retest depending on outcome, at least that’s what I’m going to try and get from the Endo. Thank you for helping me SlowDragon I feel a bit calmer now I’ve got a plan x sometimes it’s so hard to see your own path clearly and I just want to say thanks x
Not everyone needs T3. Some feel best on T4 only. If you are a good converter, you may feel fine on T4. Sometimes, increasing levo is all that is needed.
In answer to your question …. I feel brilliant taking T3 alongside my T4 levo. I take 5mcg T3 twice a day 8hrs apart. I take 68mcg liquid levo. My levels are optimal for me and TSH is never suppressed. I get my bloods taken with taking my meds and without alternatively every 3 months. This way I know I’m not too high or too low. TSH is usually around 1.00. I aim to mirror a healthy persons thyroid results of TSH around 1.00. I believe my success to due to keeping levels in range. I have no symptoms anymore. Prior to adding T3 I could barely walk it got that bad.
Best thing is to test and then you’ll know what’s going on
