Hi Ladies and Gents

I wanted to ask if anyone knows where I can find a group/expert about male hormones? It’s for my husband, he has no thyroid issues, it’s about other hormones.

He did a Randox test and it turns out he has elevated FSH, LH, Prolactin and Oestradiol.

His Testosterone is ok, he is always tired and his libido is not very high, that’s why we got the test done.

I attached the test results, in case someone has an idea about male hormones or what we should do??

I could only attach one page - the Oestradiol is on the second page, it’s 181 and the optimal range is 41.1 - 159.

He took a 2 week course of antibiotics for a dental infection, that he finished about 2 weeks before the test. He occasionally takes prolonged release Tramadol for chronic back pain (injury a long time ago) but doesn’t take Omeprazole with it.

Thank you so much!! 🙏🏼🌺

To put it succinctly the testicles aren't producing quite like they used to, might be injury, but I'm guessing probably due to age, I'm not being flippant I just don't think you need to be too concerned. Judging by his total T and SHGB his free T is going to be enviable, lucky him and lucky you.

Lol Yes, T is good but to be fair, his libido is low so not so lucky 😆🤪

I was wondering about the whole relationship between the hormones and the testes/sperm production etc. He had a vasectomy years and years ago, before we met (we’ve been together for 12.5 years) and he had a vasovasostomy (vasectomy reversal) so we can have children. Soon after the reversal I got pregnant with our daughter and the surgeon did say that the vas deferens might heal up/get blocked. I think this has happened as we were not able to conceive another child.

I just wonder if the low (non-existent) sperm count is obviously noted by the pituitary gland and hence the high FSH and LH levels, telling his testes to make more sperm. It kinda makes sense.

I was up most of the night learning about the whole thing (I’m a fully qualified acupuncturist so really interested in all things human body) and solutions.

Thank you for your help and advice, really appreciate it!

Hello, just read your reply, elevated estradiol would probably have a negative effect on his wellbeing, has he gained weight, without changing diet, any visible signs of breast tissue, delicate issue that one, men tend to have an affinity for breasts but not on themselves. There could be a consequence between elevated estradiol and normal T levels, pushing down his free T which is fundamentally the most important marker, what is his albium level? There are ways of reducing his estradiol with diet, personally I think that's purely for maintenance. Also I and I speak from experience, that when someone and I'll also declare that this is exacerbated in men particularly on this particular subject because of the impotent label, once it occurs once the fear is that it will happen again which it invariably does, knocking confidence and so it goes on, that coupled with generally feeling horrible all day just makes it psychologically over whelming. The mind is a most powerful tool.It wouldn't hurt if he was to seek advice from a TRT clinic who generally are well versed on such matters, definitely don't waste your time with the GP or Endo, equally as useless.

Wish him all the best, he's not alone unfortunately, things will hopefully improve.

Thank you!!

He has not visibly gained weight and has been the same weight in the last 12.5 years we have been together. He doesn’t have any breast tissue, his chest is pure muscle. He never had any erectile dysfunction, but some issues with premature ejaculation. His diet is not as good as it was 12.5-10 years ago, he eats gf bread but he eats normal bread too, he drinks alcohol 2-3x/week, 1/2 bottle of red wine or 2 beers at a time. Sometimes spirits but mostly beer or red wine. He definitely needs to up his vegetable intake! I got him a stainless steel bottle for his birthday (today) 🎉🍾 so he doesn’t have the bottled water with endocrine disrupters that leached into it from the plastic! I researched it and Ashwaganda has been proven in clinical trials to reduce FHS and LH, so I got him some filler-free organic Ashwaganda too, that he’s been taking for 3 days now. I’ll give him Zn and Mg before bed every night and I suggested him daily 10 minute meditations to work on the stress factor. We will repeat the test in 3-4 months and see how thing’s improved hopefully.

His Albumin is well within range, 43.4g/l (range is 35-50).

I really appreciate your help and advice, thank you so much for writing back! 🙏🏼🌺

I would get him to start with his GP, esp if he is tired all the time. He could also take these results to the appointment.

Thank you - good idea, we might get more bloods done, check thyroid etc.

Id probably start with a search of potential side effects of medications he's taking or taken as sadly theyre often to blame.

In my experience, GP and/or referred endo likely to say all OK! If so and symptoms persist and/or you remain concerned, pm me for links to qualified Nutritional Therapists specialising in male hormones.

Is your husband overweight? This can affect the hormone levels, testosterone will break down into excess oestrogens which can cause issues with libido. The more fat there is the more aromatase there is(this is what breaks the testosterone down into oestrogens) Again prolactin isn't overly concerning, can be high due to high protein diet or excessive exercise before the test was taken. Only concerning if your husband has itchy nipples or even a milky discharge from them .

Hi, thank you so much! He is not overweight, but interestingly seems to have higher body fat than me and his visceral fat is high! He is an ex fireman and he is a lean and muscly built, but clearly there are issues with visceral fat, that we need to address. He doesn’t have any milky discharge or itchy nipples, the only visible symptoms are that he is always tired (he’s an electrician so his work can be quite physical), and lethargic, and is not able to deal with things like he used to, he perceives a lot of things as stressful when it’s just life.

I really want to help him get his energy and spark back (no pun intended). 😃
