Anyone else been given Aristo Thyroxine

HI,

My last lot of Thyroxine is the Brand Aristo.

I have not taken it before, so I am giving it a try. I can't take Teva as it makes me

very poorly.

I had been feeling really good, I had a blood test and got my results the beginning

of January and they were okay. I am also not due my next b12 injection until the end of

March.

I just wondered any one else has had any problems with i this brand,

I just don't feel right........

Aristo is only available in 100mcg dose and is lactose free. Many people get on well with it. Its also marketed under the brand name of Vencamil.

Perhaps we should be looking at your latest thyroid results?

Do you have a copy of your latest blood results that you can share with us? You are legally entitled to a printed copy of your results, ask at GP reception. In England you can get the NHS app and ask for permission to see your blood results on that by asking at GP’s reception.

When hypo we get low stomach acid which means we cannot absorb vitamins well from our food, regardless of a great diet. For thyroid hormone to work well we need OPTIMAL levels of vitamins. Have you recently or could you ask your GP to test levels of ferritin, folate, B12 & D3? Private tests are available, see link for companies offering private blood tests & discount codes, some offer a blood draw service at an extra cost.thyroiduk.org/testing/priva...

There is also a new company offering walk in& mail order blood tests in London, Kent, Sussex & Surrey areas. Check to see if there is a blood test company near you. onedaytests.com/products/ul...

Only do private tests on a Monday or Tuesday to avoid postal delays.

I am on 125mcg and they supplied me with 100's and 25's. The 25's were not in a blister pack

and Just had Levothyroxine on the container. The tablets have 25 on one side and LT on the other. I asked them to check that they were not Teva, and was told they were not.

Blood test 29/11/23 8.10 am No dose taken before blood draw

TSH 0.01 range 0.3 to 5.0 this varies slightly from blood test to blood test.

Free T4 16.2 range 7.9 to 16.0 ( it was 14.7 in 2022. )

I asked the Dr not to reduce my Thyroxine as I was feeling the best I had for a long time.

She agreed and said I was to have another blood test in six months time.

Also they have changed the parameters over the years as it used to be 12 to 22 and I used to feel well when I was near top of the range .

They do not test T3 or any antibodies.

thank you

The 25's are Eltroxin and contain lactose. You should have had a patient information leaflet with the unboxed tablets.

So you need to get a full thyroid panel privately - TSH, FT4 & FT3, also full vitamin testing as I said above.

Thank you, I am not lactose intolerant so I don't think that is causing my problem.

I will get a private test, but I will also ask not to have the Aristo when I ask for my next prescription.

Thank you for your quick replies.

My UK thyroid medicines document lists the marking on all UK tablets. Though you have already been told (correctly) they are Advanz/Mercury Pharma levothyroxine. :-)

helvella's medicines documents (UK and Rest of the World) can be found here:

helvella - Thyroid Hormone Medicines

helvella has created, and tries to maintain, documents containing details of all thyroid hormone medicines in the UK and, in less detail, many others around the world. There is now a specific world desiccated thyroid document.

The link below takes you to a blog page which has direct links to the documents from Dropbox and QR codes to make it easy to access from phones. You will have to scroll down or up to find the link to the document you want.

The UK document contains up-to-date versions of the Summary Matrixes for levothyroxine tablets, oral solutions and also liothyronine available in the UK. Includes descriptions of tablet markings which allow identification. Latest updates include all declared ingredients for all UK products and links to Patient Information Leaflets, etc.

I normally have Accord, but last summer I had a box of Aristo. We were away on holiday, taking the dogs for long walks, I was absolutely wrecked, no energy, struggled up the hills. It’s usually me waiting for hubby to catch up, during this holiday it was the other way round. I couldn’t figure out why I’d gone downhill so fast and then realised I’d had a change of brand, so dumped the rest of the box and started back on Accord. I did full bloods a couple of weeks after getting back/switching back to Accord and they were just as they normally are so I have no idea why my energy levels tanked. I told the doc (via the notes on the repeat prescription request) and now they write Accord brand on the prescription, albeit in the wrong place!

So, yes, I think I have issues with Aristo as well as Teva, but it’s not the same issues: Teva gives me splitting headaches, Aristo reduces my energy.

I take Aristo and it’s the best Levo brand I’ve taken. The fillers are not bad compared to other brands, they are easy to take and cut with a pill cutter.

I find it works for me, although I have trouble sourcing it, pharmacist keep trying to give me Teva which gives me headaches & low moods. Accord not to bad but the lactose element can upset me tummy wise. I've been on Aristo for at least 6 months I think memory not brilliant today. 🤞 It works for you & you can access it.👍
