My adult son was diagnosed with hypothyroidism from a routine test after a slight head injury during Covid lockdown. I have not been able to lose weight and so asked my GP for thyroid function test - and sure enough!! So was started on Eltroxin. Lately my usually reasonably well controlled BP went haywire and I started on new med. I just wondered how much time after taking eltroxin should I wait before taking other meds. Also my GP is only testing for TSH which appears normal now. Could my strange BP behaviour be related to my thyroid function? And what should I be asking my GP?
Thanks so much, I would really appreciate any thoughts

👋 I don't know about BP meds so I'll leave that for someone that does....
Are you able to access private thyroid blood tests that will show Free T3 & 4 levels? These give you a real insight into actual thyroid hormone levels... the other essentials are folate, ferritin, Vit D and B12
At least two hours between the thyroid hormone and the BP meds. But, could very well be that your high blood pressure is due to your hypo. It can be a hypo symptom.
How much Eltroxin did he start you on? If it was too little, then that could have made you more hypo and that's why your BP changed.
