A friend’s ‘Active’ Vitamin B12 blood test result has fallen within the lower quarter of the Active B12 blood range.

Anyone have any good advice please.

No, but has had giddiness, balance, tiredness, anxiety problems.

Is she currently supplementing ?

Taking a PPI or Metformin for T2 Diabetes ?

Folate test result ?

Supplemented Vitamin D3+K2, but laid them off for a while till privately testing just the ‘famous five’ 😊

No Drs medication, sadly iron panel and folate tests were spoilt as was the whole of the first set of 5 bloods 🥲 so not much to go on, but definately not well.

Dr suggesting inner ear crystals have dislodged, due to not being able to lie down without feeling unbalanced, but along with giddiness/balance problems, also fatigued, anxiety and sometimes legs wobbly. This lady is usually full of life.

Usually the testing company will supply a new kit FOC if samples are spoiled.

Could be LOW B12.... ??

First set was sadly ‘Haemolysed’ so no results

A second free test was sent through from Thriva, the only blood results from second try resulted in-

*Active Vitamin B12 = 70.6 (37.5 - 188) pmol/L

*Vitamin D = 87.1 (50-250) nmol/L

*Ferritin = 133 (30 - 650) ug/L

Sadly the rest of the iron panel and folate tests were again classed as ‘Haemolysed’ so no results.

Was hoping something would show up more prominent, though the bloods are probably not optimal for someone still presenting unwell for quite a while.

Unvaxed 😊

Not on prescription meds either.

75 is considered optimal for Active B12.... 100 for VitD so both look fine. Ferritin looks high-ish which could suggest inflammation somewhere. Perhaps CRP was tested ?

MTHFR ?

Has thyroid been tested ? Or was that the damaged batch ?

I’ve heard others talk about the CRP or MTHFR tests. 🤔 I’m not familiar, though just did a quick research and understand a little more. 👍

No thyroids done either yet, due to private costs, though we did talk about it.

Also mentioned tinnitus, though slightly better now, might be linked to the inner ear problem causing the giddiness and balance issues. 🤔
