Hi Sorry for being a pest but I'm completely drained and brain fog preventing memory , GP stopped my T3 I advised her to increase my T4 ( I don't convert ) accordingly, she queried why I would need an increase ( I query is she qualified) I explained why ( she was clueless ) anyway she's ordered a full thyroid blood test for the 20th Feb I know I don't take my T4 ( 75mcg ) on the day but please remind me is it B12 not to take for 3 days before ? Sorry to keep pestering I'm exhausted from crying I don't want to be bed bound again my son is severely disabled I'm a sole carer I CANT be ill . Thank you for your patience

I am so sorry you are going through this. Is there anyone else you can talk to at the surgery? Did she give a reason to stop the T3? It is just so wrong, she is making you ill when you cannot afford to be ill.

If you can hang on until the blood results come back, then post on here for further help, that is one plan. If she absolutely refuses the T3, tell her you will buy your own and she can look forward to a written complaint. You could try asking her to reinstate the T3 for a "trial" period to see if this helps.

Tell her she is there to advise, not dictate, and you were OK on the T3 and now you are not. Medically you need it, and why does she disagree?

Anyway, sending a hug, hang on in there, we are here for you.

Thankyou , no every gp in the surgery says categorically no to T3 they say there is no evidence its needed these days and T4 is sufficient I explained I had no thyroid and I don't convert they clearly had no idea what conversion meant so I explained but the vacant glazed look speaks volumes really

You will need to see endocrinologist

Who originally prescribed your T3 ?

75mcg levothyroxine is a low dose if ONLY on levothyroxine unless you are extremely petite

Approximately how much do you weigh in kilo

ESSENTIAL to get vitamin D, folate, B12 and ferritin levels tested too

Vitamin levels tend to crash when T3 stopped

How much T3 were you taking

How much levothyroxine before T3 stopped

Here’s link for how to request Thyroid U.K.list of private Doctors emailed to you, but within the email a link to download list of recommended thyroid specialist endocrinologists who will prescribe T3

Ideally choose an endocrinologist to see privately initially and who also does NHS consultations

thyroiduk.org/contact-us/ge...

very unlikely NHS will test Ft3

Recommended that all thyroid blood tests early morning, ideally just before 9am, only drink water between waking and test and last dose levothyroxine 24 hours before test

This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip)

T3 ….day before test split T3 as 2 or 3 smaller doses spread through the day, with last dose approximately 8-12 hours before test

Private tests are available as NHS currently rarely tests Ft3 or all relevant vitamins

Testing options and includes money off codes for private testing

T3 ….day before test split T3 as 2 or 3 smaller doses spread through the day, with last dose approximately 8-12 hours before test

Not taking any vitamin B complex to maintain folate levels?

How much levothyroxine were you taking BEFORE added T3

11 stone = 69.8 kilo

69.8 kilo x guidelines of 1.6mcg per kilo = 111mcg per day

Often Levo dose only needs reducing max 25mcg per day when adding 3 x 5mcg per day T3
