Ho penny . All my obvs have been fine . I’ve been on this dose for approximately 7 weeks I self inject b12 every 2 months , I take vitamin d anyway . I haven’t got my ferritin readings .
Well - I 'm out of my depth as I'm not sure what to write - apart from the obvious - and suggest you reduce down your current dosing regime and wait a good 24 hours from last dose to blood draw next time around.
If you are well and happy with no signs of over medication so be it - could there be an absorption issue ?
Yes - I'd suggest reducing and maybe think about loosing the 3rd dose altogether -
as what with having to take NDT on an empty stomach and wait an hour before eating or drinking anything splitting 3 times a day does somewhat reduce one options as to when to eat and drink.
Are these results ' just for you ' as I'm sure your doctor will advise stopping NDT altogether !!
Well, those results look like a Hashi's 'hyper' swing, to me. Do you know if you have Hashi's? Have you had your antibodies tested? That would be one of those more in-depth tests that your GP insisted don't exist! How wrong he was!
Hashi's is an autoimmune disease, where the immune system systematically destroys the thyroid by constant attacks, mistaking it for the enemy. And during the attack, the dying cells leak their stock of thyroid hormone into the blood so that levels of FT4 and/or FT3 suddenly rise for no apparent reason. This is when doctors talk about 'abusing thyroid hormone' and want to slash the dose. But, these 'hyper' levels are only temporary, so levels will eventually reduce by themselves. And then you will be hypo again, and need your full dose of levo/T3. So, if you start to feel hyper, the best things to do is to reduce, or stop, the levo yourself, without involving the doctor, until you feel hypo again.
Given that you are taking a higher dose than most and your t4 and t3 levels are over range it seems likely that you are over medicated. However, you are feeling well - which is the objective. So perhaps it would be wise to slowly reduce the dose and see if you can remain well on a lower dose. The objective being to remain well on a lower dose. A modest dose reduction every two weeks might be reasonable?
Do you take any supplements containing Biotin? The one time I forgot to stop my B complex before testing, my results came out very similar to this (T4 30, T3 8.7, TSH completely suppressed) -- I stopped the Bs, tested again a week later and they were down within range.
I realised within a day of the results that I had tested while on biotin and had heard that can falsely inflate the results, so I didn't reduce, I just ordered a test and repeated it, a week later (5 or so days after stopping the b complex). My t4 was then down to 21.5 and t3 down to 6.4 (TSH still <0.01). I can only speak from my experience, but I think if my numbers were truly as high as the results you've posted, I'd be feeling very unwell indeed. If you have the opportunity to retest after a few days/week break from the biotin, I would do that before adjusting, given that you feel well.
