Many members ask about things that cannot be discussed openly on the forum. The two most common are sources of medicines and identifiable practitioners (often doctors).
We then often see multiple replies asking:
🔸 “Can you let me know as well?”;
🔸 “Please PM me the name”; etc.
Please do not do this.
🔻 The thread of the original post often gets confused and difficult to follow.
🔻 If A posts, then B replies, and C replies to B, and D replies to C, … Are they all actually intending to ask A? Or did D really mean to ask B or C?
🔻 If members try to clarify what B, C or D is asking for, and why, then the thread becomes two or more logical threads competing in one actual thread.
🔻 Very often, the person being replied to has absolutely no experience of the source or doctor. After all, might only been told themselves in the past few hours! The idea of recommendations is not that they are like advertising but that they are based on experience.
🔻 We end up with a thread full of replies saying "PM me too".
Suggested alternative approaches:
🔹 Simply send a Private Message (Chat) to the person in which you just ask for the information.
🔹 Write a brand new post asking what you want to know. You can always “mention” or “call out” to other members in your new post - or include a link the other post.
