Hi, I made a post a couple of days ago. I’m hoping most are not fed up with my constant whining! I received two valuable responses, still hoping others will respond with more advice. I’m not managing with tweaking my doses and I’m changing my doses too often, only to my detriment. It can be a lonely journey at times, especially when family members are not supportive. I now feel like a burden to everyone (numerous chronic illness) I’m not coping with my thyroid illness.
If you’re able to see my last post asking for help, please weigh in. Penny responded and gave good advice. Just would like to know what other experienced members think. I will post again if needed.
Thanks

You decreased your meds and I have done the same. I have been on the same dose for a long time, but the strengths of bottle were different and I had no choice but to come down. I'm on Throid S, which is dessicated. I think Erfa is dessicated too. It makes you feel awful when any change in med happens, even if just a little.
They say it takes six or more weeks to get leveled. I went thru a lot of aches and pains that first week I lowered myself. I'm around the sixth week and still am having bouts of heartburn and my teeth feel funny at times. It has gotten better as my body is adapting but taking time.
I wish it was an exact science.
I just tested a few days ago and will get my results soon.
I hate thyroid issues. It truly is unique.
I've been trying to be good to myself. I rub icy hot on where I was hurting and it has helped and resting.
I don't know what's worse, having the symptoms or thinking about it.
Keep us posted on how you're doing, hon, and I'll do the same.
thanks deb, you’re so right, thyroid journey can be such a lonely one. Very nice to be connected to all the lovely people on this site. I read every night, just to hear the stories of others and to gain more knowledge. I wouldn’t wish this illness on anyone. It’s such a struggle. Feeling normal 1-2 weeks, the feeling awful for 2-4 weeks.
Take good care of yourself and enjoy the good days🙏🏻
So, is the problem that you increase your dose, feel well for a couple of weeks, then feel the hypos symptoms creeping back in again? If so, this is perfectly normal. I doesn't mean that you need to reduce back again, it means that you are ready for your next increase. OK, we recommend waiting six weeks after a change in dose, but your body can feel the need for an increase before that. So, the best thing is not to panic, but to sit it out until the six week mark, retest and increase again. Not decrease.
I just read through the majority of your post even from years ago and you seem to be having the same issues with all dose combinations …. Just a thought have you considered or researched the ingredients in your thyroid meds (Im sure you have) Im also thyroid-less and suffered horribly only to finally discover Im actually allergic to ingredient inside the thyroid pills (Acacia) absolutely poison and made me feel like I was going mad with issues once I switched to a pill without Acacia in it a lot of my issues did subside and sadly without a thyroid we will always have some type of hiccup Ive come to just accept this as long as its not debilitating because constantly chasing perfect was killing me emotionally.
Im sure this isn’t at all helpful but your not alone.
Thanks for weigh8ng in! You’re correct about my ongoing issues, have not really felt well since my thyroidectomy. Feeling well for two weeks, then feeling awful for 2-4 weeks. I have just been noticing generalized itching 15 minutes after taking my daily dose, especially itching all over my head. It’s almost like there are ants crawling on my skin. I asked the Endo about it and he just continued staring at the computer screen.. They’re all uncaring idiots! It almost feels like a histamine reaction. Maybe there is something in the Erfa thyroid that does not agree with me. I have not been able to increase by dose without hiccups. The recent weight gain, muscle stiffness and extreme fatigue is killing me.
I know I will never return to my normal self, but I felt really good for four weeks following my thyroidectomy. I’m now tempted to return to Synthroid + a small dose of Cytomel, I felt better then and it was easier to adjust doses. I just want to have a wee bit of normalcy in my life. Can’t continue on this path.
I’m glad you were able to find something that works for you! Yes, is more difficult without a thyroid and thes Endks don’t get it. I really would like to complain less and get on with my life.
Thanks for listening and I wish you all the best on your journey to a healthy life.
You need to look up a extensive list of medications Hellva has created it will show active and inactive ingredients for different manufacturers ….I was on Synthyroid for years and it was my poison unaware that they use Acacia even in their “pure” 50mcg pill….. Im currently taking L-Thyroxine (50mcg) white pill the maker is Alvogen and my issue went away…. Again Im not perfect but Ive given up on that pointless quest.
