Afternoon everyone ,

Hope your all well 😊

My partner has had some sort of virus over Christmas which prompted blood investigation .

We don’t think the thyroid has been tested but they have tested the attached blood and wanted some feedback from you lovely helpful people as to your thoughts on his Vitamin D and B12 levels ?

Thank you 🙏✨🙏

Vit D is almost deficient needs to be 100-150 get on e with K2-MK7 grassrootshealth.net/projec...

Folate... can't tell if it's a 2 or a 7 but either way too low and a good B Complex would sort this and B12 levels out Igennus Super B or Thorne Basic B are good ones

Calcium levels look a bit suspect and need further investigation as I think this points to parathyroid issues?

Thank you 🙏 so much for reply !

Arrr yes raised calcium , having done some research calcium has a role for controlling muscle contractions amongst other things and his test confirms a lot with Johns symptoms !

I had to take him to A&E just before Christmas with chronic pain in his legs ! Doctors sent him away saying it was a viral infection but having gone back to GP and more tests we have discovered this . So yes I agree tests point to parathyroid .

GP just started him on prescription strength methyl folate but not vitamin D so we will get on this . Based on his results would the better you mouth spray with K be sufficient do you think 🤔

Many thanks 🙏 xx

IMPORTANT

His calcium is only just over range ….but probably needs investigating before starting any vitamin D

With high calcium but low vitamin D he needs tests for hyperparathyroid

parathyroid.com/low-vitamin...

If you really have low vitamin D (and not a parathyroid tumor), for which your doctor may want to give you vitamin D pills, then you should have a normal or LOW blood calcium.

a low vitamin D cannot ever be the cause of high blood calcium. This fact is not debatable. Thus, if you have a low vitamin D and your calcium is above 10.0, then the high calcium in your blood must have come from somewhere else other than your diet (it came from your bones). Thus, if you have a low vitamin D, and a calcium level above 10.1, then you are almost guaranteed to have primary hyperparathyroidism and need surgery to remove the parathyroid tumor. A low vitamin D cannot ever be the cause of high blood calcium.

Folate is deficient

B12 better over 500

High MCH supports folate deficiency

Low B12 symptoms

b12deficiency.info/signs-an...

methyl-life.com/blogs/defic...

With serum B12 result below 500, (Or active B12 below 70) recommended to be taking a separate B12 supplement

after your partner finishes the folic acid add a separate vitamin B Complex

Then once serum B12 is over 500 (or Active B12 level has reached 70), may be able to reduce then stop the B12 and just carry on with the B Complex.

If Vegetarian or vegan likely to need ongoing separate B12 few times a week

Highly effective B12 drops

B12 range in U.K. is too wide

Interesting that in this research B12 below 400 is considered inadequate

Vitamin B complex

supplementing a good quality daily vitamin B complex, one with folate in (not folic acid)

This can help keep all B vitamins in balance and will help improve B12 levels too

Difference between folate and folic acid

healthline.com/nutrition/fo...

B vitamins best taken after breakfast

Thorne Basic B recommended vitamin B complex that contains folate, but they are large capsules. (You can tip powder out if can’t swallow capsule)

Thorne currently difficult to find at reasonable price, should be around £20-£25. iherb.com often have in stock. Or try ebay

Igennus B complex popular option too. Nice small tablets. Most people only find they need one per day. But a few people find it’s not high enough dose

IMPORTANT......If you are taking vitamin B complex, or any supplements containing biotin, remember to stop these 7 days before ALL BLOOD TESTS , as biotin can falsely affect test results

endo.confex.com/endo/2016en...

endocrinenews.endocrine.org...

In week before blood test, when you stop vitamin B complex, you might want to consider taking a separate folate supplement (eg Jarrow methyl folate 400mcg) and continue separate B12 until over 500
