Hi all, again I'd be grateful of your reviews of my recent results (both conducted following all your advised instructions) The first one (with the T4 at 19.8 in case they don't appear in order) is with 125 levo and 12.5 of privateT3 and the 2nd is with 100 levo and 12.5 of T3. I'm still in the process of losing the excess stone and a half to get me back to where I've been comfortable and well for a few years. Based on these two results could I ask should my levo be increased or decreased? Apologies if is perhaps obvious but I still struggle with understanding and grasping. I'm just so cross with myself for upsetting the applecart on where I've been on par for so long and now struggling with getting back to that painstakingly stumbling around trying umpteen things quite blindly. I am due a doctors blood test as they say I haven't had one for 2 years so am assuming my medication dose will be perhaps changed. I'd be very grateful of your expert advice again before I go. Many thanks all.
Private blood results 8 weeks apart: Hi all... - Thyroid UK
Private blood results 8 weeks apart
Does GP know you are adding T3
TSH is very low because you are taking T3
GP will likely want to (inappropriately) reduce levothyroxine to force TSH up
Recommended that all thyroid blood tests early morning, ideally just before 9am, only drink water between waking and test and last dose levothyroxine 24 hours before test
This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip)
On T3 - day before test split T3 as 2 or 3 smaller doses spread through the day with last dose 8-12 hours before test
is this how you did your test
FT4: 14.3 pmol/l (Range 12 - 22)
Ft4 only 23.00% through range
And
FT3: 3.3 pmol/l (Range 3.1 - 6.8)
Ft3 worse at 5.41% through range
Many members, on Levo plus small doses of T3 find they need BOTH Ft4 and Ft3 roughly 60-70% through range
Previous results
FT4: 19.8 pmol/l (Range 12 - 22)
Ft4 a little high perhaps at 78.00% through range
FT3: 5 pmol/l (Range 3.1 - 6.8)
Ft3 bit low at 51.35%
Perhaps next try
112.5mcg daily Levo
3 x 1/4 dose T3
Retest in 8 weeks
Meanwhile test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12
As always, I’m grateful for your reply so thank you so much. The dr doesn’t know about the T3 so I guess I’ll have to confess but I’m now so anxious about a possible Levo reduction by dr to the point I’m on the verge of actually cancelling the dr’s blood test. Do you think I would get very far if I requested an increase to 112.5? I actually do believe my best was always 125 and 100 on alternate days.
Well you can ask
Explain you have self sourced liothyronine and this lowers TSH
If GP won’t….You may need to see endocrinologist
Here’s link for how to request Thyroid U.K.list of private Doctors emailed to you, but within the email a link to download list of recommended thyroid specialist endocrinologists who will prescribe T3
Ideally choose an endocrinologist to see privately initially and who also does NHS consultations
