T3 Uni-pharma

Happy New year to all!

I have been a member for a few years now although I haven’t posted recently.

I have been taking levothyroxine for over ten years and about 3 years ago I starting adding a very small amount of t3 which I self source.

My question is, have uni-pharma stop producing t3 all together and if that’s the case and I have to get tiromel what is the difference between the two, any advice would be very welcome as I am quite concerned about making any changes after being quite happy with my current set up.

I live in Greece and yes, it "appears" that Uni-pharma are no longer producing it BUT like all things here, true reasons for X, Y or Z are "obscured". My investigations make me feel the current situation could be a strategy to exert pressure on the Government to allow Uni-pharma to raise their prices. Currently due to an interesting algorithm based around highest and lowest prices from other countries in the south eastern Med. geographic area the cost of 30 x 25mcg T3 has been around 2.2 euro. Uni-pharma know e.g. bodybuilding sites sell it at +18 euro.

For the last about 3 years there have been many medicines that are no longer available.

I've no personal experience (yet) of Tiromel (but will try and get hold of some) but from what I recall reading over the years, it's very similar to Uni-pharma, or at least it was. (I suppose if the fillers/binders have been changed then that might alter things).

I have a friend in Crete (where I lived for 15 years until 2019) - who obtains her T3 without a problem - at the moment.

After using Uni-Pharma for years - I changed over to Tiromel 4 years ago. Difficult to judge which is better....

I recently travelled to Crete and the pharmacy there said they cannot get hold of it. At the same time my friend was in Athens and had the same reply in about 8/9 pharmacies.

I have about 1 year of Uni Pharma left……. I don’t know what I will do after that 🫣

Thank you for your reply., My daughter went last year to Athens and couldn’t get any. I only have about two months left, it is stressful when you finally find something that works for you and then it’s not there anymore..
