Hello Happy2828,
I am taking Tirosint and there are both good and not so good issues to consider. To start with, it is much more effective than the tablet format, so I take a lower dose of Tirosint than my normal tablet dose. It takes a few weeks to get used to it so, a hybrid dose system may be more appropriate to start with. I mean gently introducing Tirosint in some combination with the tablet version. If you have any absorption issues, then Tirosint seems to overcome those. When I switched from tablets to Tirosint both my FT3 and FT4 increased. For example, on the tablets I had a TSH 1.57, FT3 35% in the range and FT4 41% in the range. Six weeks after I switched to Tirosint on the same dose, TSH was 0.5, FT4 79% in the range and FT3 52% in the range. All very well so far, but after 8 weeks on Tirosint, I started having lots of negative effects such as flashing, aches and pains and excessive sweating so I decided to reduce the dose and this had a positive effect for 4 weeks, but then after that I felt I was experiencing hypo type of symptoms. Overall, I am happy to have switched to Tirosint, especially since I have stomach and absorption issues, but the switch, I now realised, it requires patience and care to avoid unnecessary ups and downs. I hope that this helps and good luck.
I am taking 75 mcg of Tirosint along with 25 mcg of T3. I have been on this dose since 2019. Previously was on Synthroid and T3. Tirosint works much better for me, glad I switched. I just wish I could find it a bit cheaper even though I go through Tirosint direct..
hi I hve taken it in the past. It’s a stronger concentration and less of it goes a long way. If you were taking say 75mcg of regular Levo then you’ll want to start lower with Tirosint. It has no binders and it great for people who are sensitive to Synthroid or other Levos as I was. Eventually I shifted to a compounded T4/T3 so I’m not on it anymore.
