Substitute for Douglas Adrenplus-300

Hello,

I have been using successfully for years Adrenplus-300 from Douglas Laboratories. Unfortunately, it has stopped being available in Europe. I have adrenal issues and it was the only way to cope with taking thyroid medication or glandular (for subclinical hypothyroidism) without having adrenal crashes.

I am struggling to find an adequate replacement. With Adrenplus I was taking 150mg of adrenal concentrate and I don't know how to translate that to adrenal cortex or adrenal glandulars.

Coincidently I also changed from taking Metavive II 2 days and Metavive I 1 day to the Allergy Research Group Thyroid (40mg). I checked how much it was when Metavive did not have ribonucleotides and Metavive I was 15mg and Metavive II was 30mg. I guessed taking 40mg every other day would end up being similar, but I suspect I will need to do new labs to see how I am adapting.

Any recommendation or info would be helpful. Thank you.

The manufacturer of Metavive makes an adrenal glandular called Adrenavive l, ll and lll

Adrenavive l is the entire gland, ll and lll are the cortex only; lll being stronger than ll. I’ve used ll and lll successfully for about 6 years. Without it I don’t tolerate Metavive increases very well

Thank you Vasiliki99 and Noelnoel, for your replies. I have a leftover expired Adrenavive III bottle (a version previous to the added ribonucleotides) . I tried both Adrenplus-300 and Adrenavive III at that time and did better with the first. The second seemed to be too strong, I recall not reacting very well to it and I stopped taking it.

I suspect Adrenplus-300 has the entire gland, but it is not clear, as it only says "adrenal concentrate". I also wonder if the whole b-complex in Adrenplus-300 is not also important.

Yes, Adrenavive is pretty powerful. I can tolerate 3/4 of a capsule only and then only in the morning. If I take it any later than about 11.30 I’m wide awake at bedtime

Can I ask why you took different doses of Metavive on alternate days and take Thyroid every other day? Not a problem if it suits you.

I took Metavive thyroid everyday. I alternated the dose. It was the scheme that gave me the best results. I had no idea about the differences you mention. Thank you for sharing that information.

I am taking now the allergy research group thyroid. 1 capsule everyday. I suspect it is not enough, but I am doing labs this week.

blaudag how has your experiment with ARG thyroid gone? Hope you found your dose.

It's gone well fortunately. I found the right dose by taking two capsules monday, wednesday and friday and one the rest of the days. I am sticking to it.

I still have not solved the Adrenplus-300 problem. I have stock until the end of the year, but as Douglas stopped producing it I will have to find an alternative meanwhile. Any good suggestions are still welcome.

blaudag thank you for sharing your experience. That's so great you found the right dose I have never tried adrenal. I see that an integrative UK GP sells the 'vive' range so you'd think it's ok

Tbh I tend to go off reviews!

Which is what led me to the ARG thyroid glandular.

Im going to try it since issues with potency and price of thyrovanz.

I used to fi d thyrogold effective but possibly too potent for me, maybe the other ingredients they add gave it too much punch!

Go well finding your adrenal.

Thank you.
