Thyroid S - Batch 23T01003

Hi Folks. If anyone is on this batch, it would be great to hear people's experience (good or bad) taking this compared to previous batches.

I have been on it for around a month now, and having rather weird sensations.

Thanks 🙂

Hi helvella. My experience with this batch is strange. Swollen legs (achey heaviness) and fingers. A weird sensation in my system, can't really describe it, but probably an autoimmune response as I also have a strange deep itching either side of my neck in a thin line. Very different to my previous batch. I am waiting on blood results. I have decided to come off it for a day or two, and start again slowly and see what happens.

Do you have anything else to take? Like some left from another batch?

If it is proving to be effectively sub-potent, coming off it might be the worst choice! Though a blood test might help shed some light.

in reply to helvella

Hi. I am hoping to get my results by the end of the week. I haven't had anything thus far today, and my heaviness and aching bones have subsided. I was getting worried because I have osteoporosis, and any of the above is concerning. I have about 1 grain of my last batch unfortunately. I am grieving it already, as I didn't have any of those symptoms with that batch. I may take that grain later today to tide me over, but then I'm not sure what to do. My previous good batch was TA22012.

Hello,I've been on this new batch for about two months and very quickly ran into some issues, including breathlessness, and very swollen legs. I have lymphedema but it's normally better in the winter. I assumed the tablets weren't as strong and increased my dose of T4 by 25 every other day and the symptoms have almost disappeared. I'm still monitoring my body.

I will add my experience to helvella's blog. Thanks for posting that as I didn't know where to place comments.

I'm not expecting anyone to comment on my blog!

It only has comments enabled to allow errors and omissions to be pointed out.

Just post the details here and I'll incorporate them into the blog. :-)

in reply to Floracat

Hi Floracat. Thanks for your comments. I am swollen too, achey and have a weird sensation in my system which I can't really describe, but it's not nice at all. My legs felt like lumps of heavy lead yesterday and my fingers are swollen. I have decided to leave it for a day and start again slowly. Do you have levothyroxine as well then? Normally, I just manage with the Thyroid-S, as Levo makes me put on weight. I don't understand why these batches are so different than previous ones, the manufacturer claims nothing has changed.

What Brand is this please ?

Please persevere. I was involved years ago when pharma merca was making everyone poorly but they kept saying it was fine . Months later they admitted there was a problem.

If you are in the Uk fill in the yellow form at your pharmacy .

The whole thread is about the brand Thyroid S.

You cannot do a Yellow Card report on a medicine you buy from another country.

Hi Floracat. How are your swollen symptoms now? I am getting this on this batch too.

I have been on this batch for about 4 months. I used to take 2.5 thingies, but upped it to 3 when tinitus returned with a vengeance.

Bloods last week were TSH 0.01 (have been for a while), T4 - 17 so 43% though range, T3 - 5.3 so 59% through range. Am thinking of adding a half a pill to up this a bit.

Hope this helps.

in reply to serenfach

Thanks serenfach. Seems like you're finding it weaker. What was your previous batch? Mine was TA22012 which turned out well. Strangely, I haven't taken anything today, and my bone ache, swelling and limb heaviness has subsided. I was taking 2 3/4 grains of the 23T01003, then reduced a little but felt no different, so thought I'd stop for a day and start up very slowly, and see where I go. This batch feels very different to my previous ones. Hopefully, I can get my bloods back this week to see what's happening.

I was on T22057. OK on that although the blood levels were lower due to only taking 2.5.

As an ERFA user I decided to order some thyroid S, mainly for price reasons and to use as a back up. I received this batch number of thyroid S.

I didn’t get any weird sensations but my hypo symptoms were pretty much immediate. Fortunately I still had some ERFA so I returned to it.

If I had to use it again I would probably add in another quarter or half grain.

As an experienced user of T3/NDT for many years it’s weaker for sure.

ERFA is working very well, unfortunately the price isn’t!!

in reply to Vicksters

Hi, thank you for that info... I've been thinking that I perhaps need to dig deep into the purse and try ERFA as Thyroid S is very hit and miss lately, and more miss for me unfortunately. I cannot get a prescription for it unfortunately, so I will have to source it myself somehow. If you buy it privately without a prescription, I would be grateful if you would PM me your source, thanks. By the way, does it have less rubbish in it than the Thyroid-S? I think I am sensitive to some of the fillers, but not sure what, as the manufacturer won't publish the ingredients, which is pretty unethical.

Vicksters profile image
Vicksters in reply to

I dont think Thyroid S is anywhere near 60 mg personally. Its either very weak or has lots of fillers like you say. I knew within 1 day someone was off.

My ERFA is via prescription from my doctor, sorry I cant help with that.

in reply to Vicksters

Hi. Are you in the UK if you don't mind me asking, and if so, is your doctor via the NHS? If I can source the ERFA without a prescription, what dose do you recommend me buying? The 60mg or the 125mg. I usually take around 2.5 grains of the Thyroid S, but that does fluctuate up and down as I try and tweek with each batch to try and achieve symptom free. Certainly not getting that on this batch.

Hi,

I am not in the UK anymore... Send me a PM if you can..

in reply to Vicksters

Hi Vicksters. I decided to buy some ERFA through Roseway Labs, after not feeling good on 23T01003 Thyroid-S. Unfortunately, I haven't felt any different than being on Thyroid-S. I have since learned that there is 0.2 % of added iodine in it. I thought this would be counterproductive, as iodine supplementation should not be taken with hypothyroidism? Would you say in your experience that the ERFA is stronger or weaker than the latest Thyroid-S batches? Thanks!

I have been ill now for over 15 months, still trying to find my old self on the Thyroid s. I have now given up on that as the new ones simply don't work.

I am now taking Erfa but need to source more, it works really well a bit like the old 22 batches of Thyroid s.

I have only been on it for two days and already feel the difference. I did increase the thyroid s but it never worked and after being on it for over seven years it looked different too.

Vicksters in reply to Brightness14

I have to agree. I have tried most of them and nothing comes close to ERFA. I knew within a day of taking thyroid S it was not anywhere near the quality as ERFA.

The thing is, the Thyroid s have changed these worked very well until the TA22 batches started, they changed colour and never worked. Yes, your batch is one of the newer ones.

This is interesting but I'm sorry you're not doing well on batch 23T01003. It contains 103.1% T4 and 102.5% T3 and was manufactured on 08/06/2023.

I'm currently taking 23T01002, manufactured on 25.01.23, 108.3% T4 and 102.9% T3, and doing very well on it. I was thinking that the problems must have been for just a while last year and that things were back to normal now! I've just received four jars of 23T01004, 103.9% T4, 102.0% T3, manufactured on the same day as yours.

How do you take it, do you swallow it or chew it? What colour is it, can you post a photo? Have you contacted the manufacturers to report your symptoms and ask if anyone else has reported similar? I think when obvious symptoms/side effects appear they need to know about them.

in reply to Framboise

Hi Framboise. I have now decided to try ERFA through a private prescription. I have booked a prescription consultation through a private lab based in the UK. It is a lot more expensive than Thyroid S and I am disappointed that I am having to try this route due to the expense, but lately, I seem to have more issues with Thyroid S than not on the later batches. My previous batch turned out well, TA22012, and I wished I had bought 1000, but I never do in case it's not an effective batch due to the expense. I did purchase TA22057, but I felt horrendous on it, so went back to the TA22012 due to being able to source a little more. My body seems to react to the latest batches, or the rubbish fillers are taking a toll on my body. I am particularly concerned about the aluminium in it, as over time, it is harmful to the body, and there's a link between aluminium intake and Alzheimers and Parkinsons. The manufacturer is very shady when it comes to asking questions, which is also concerning. Thyroid S has certainly changed in colour and texture. Both the TA22057 and the 23T01003 are a brighter green shade and very hard, meaning when you chew it, it doesn’t dissolve easily. I am hoping the ERFA suits me better due to the fewer fillers and better Canadian regulations. Obviously, people have better toleration rates, of late, my toleration to things has reduced. I hope your latest batch works out well!

Framboise profile image
Framboise in reply to

It's very strange how different people react isn't it. I react badly to many simple things like vitamin and mineral supplements and had to stop taking Armour when it tweaked the formula, and then had to stop ERFA when they changed manufacture from Belgium to Spain. Suddenly those new batches made me feel terribly dizzy. And yet I seem to tolerate Thyroid-S, which makes no sense. I've been photographing each batch that I get and so far the ones I've received all look roughly the same colour and size. I know they made the coating harder recently as they're supposed to be time release, but I chew them anyway. All I've noticed is that as a jar gets older the tablets become slightly softer to chew, then by comparison a new jar seems very hard. However, with a new harder coating it could be that they are not absorbed as well as they once were, thus people have a return of symptoms. I hope ERFA suits you better, it was certainly the one that I thought best until that change in manufacturer.

I still use batch TA22054 and it is not working well for me. On the max dose I do not get overstimulated from, my FT3 is only halfway the range. On TA21037, it was top of range and I felt well. I can take 2.5 grains of 22054 max and used to be on 3.25 grains. Comparing the percentages, I would have to take 3 grains.

So it cannot be too much T3, but I do get the symptoms from a too high dose. On the "max dose" I have hypo symptoms and a general weird feeling.

I reported it to the manufacturer. Not eager to try another batch, but I read someone else was doing well on 22054, so the new batch might work for me.

I swallow them with water first thing in the morning, and I have a thyroid.

Framboise In case you missed this.

Thanks, and all the best on your new batch. 😊
