Hi, I'm not able to get labs until Jan. 13, hopefully. This clinic is going under and everyone is struggling to be seen in this tiny community in the middle of nowhere.

I am tired most of the time. However, I did walk the furthest today than I have in a month so maybe things are getting better.

I'm concerned that it's not my thyroid but iron and different nutrients. I just received Paul Robinson's book Recovering with T3. In it he takes supplements with every meal. I don't get it. Aren't you supposed to not take calcium, etc., close to your thyroid dosing? He is on T3 only. I take NDT 3x a day.

T3 is supposed to be less inclined to bind with nutrients than T4. I don't know if that's true, or if it depends on the person, or what. I've never put it to the test. But, that's the theory. :)

GreyGoose, is that why many people can eat with NDT during the day on divided doses and still get the effects they want?

Could be, I don't know. Depends how much they're taking and what they want, I imagine. If it's true that eating doesn't reduce absorption of T3, and you don't need much T4, then it wouldn't matter if not much T4 was absorbed.

Of course, if you always follow the same routine, you can adjust your dose to allow for the hormone you're not absorbing.

I too have read t3 is not affected as much by food. Also, I take sublingual which largely makes it irrelevant also.

Even so, I always leave at least an hour anyway. Couldn’t hurt , and at least I’m consistent (as SD said I did always wonder why it matters since you will just dose for whatever is absorbed and technically you could adjust accordingly).

But!

Even sublingual - if one were to drink milk for example , wouldn’t the calcium IN THE BLOOD block it even though it completely bypasses the stomach/food absorption issues?

obviously you need full testing including vitamin levels in Jan

What were last thyroid and vitamin results and ranges

How long have you been at current dose NDT

Do you have Hashimoto’s

Are you gluten free/dairy free

Dear SlowDragon, all the things I'm not able to answer. I should know. I'm sorry I don't. Live in Timbuktu , never really knew what to ask for. I am learning. Thank you for answering. I appreciate it.
