In the past, I have had v low iron, folate rock bottom and prob other vitamins low that I never had checked.
I have worked a lot on my micro biome/gut this past year plus supplementing continuously. I cut out gluten as leaky gut was diagnosed through a test. All my levels now are in good range.
Q is do I have to take supps for life?
Also can anyone please explain diff between iron and ferritin?
As u may know I’m just starting my journey.
Thanks as always

Ferritin is like a cage which can hold lots of iron. It is a storage mechanism allowing the body to keep lots of iron - but in a way that is safe and doesn't cause the issues that excess iron in other forms would.
When you suffer inflammation, the body diverts iron into ferritin - seemingly to make it unavailable to bacteria which might otherwise use the iron for their own growth.
I am waiting to see Endo this week, my only thought is the low FT3.
NOV 23…..
TSH was 2.34 sometimes it’s over 3.
TPA was <9 range 0-34
TA 12.1 range 0-115
So I take it above are fine.
My FT3 is on low side 3.9 range 3.1-6.8
T4 15.7 range 12-22
I feel like iv never felt before and it has been a downward spiral this 2.5 years. Somethings playing up!!
My last T4 in May was 11
My appetite practically gone, sometimes nausea, low stomach acid, freezing feet, chills, NO motivation, no energy, weak legs/a arms, anxiety - ill at ease, some light heads, mood changes mostly low, waken up with sweats and palpitations, heart racing, hissing sound in ear/head.
The above just came to a head 8 weeks ago and I haven’t picked up, where as in past I did a bit.
I had been really looking after myself - reason for good Vit levels.
When I've got levels where I want then to be I will usually continue taking the vitamin / mineral but at a lower, maintenance dose with the hope that I will maintain my levels where I want them.
So, for example, this means that I take a high dose vitamin B12, but only once or twice a week, ditto with folate. It means I spend a lot less money than before while still maintaining my levels somewhere near where I want them to be.
If I take something a couple of times a week I might take them on a Monday and Thursday, for example, to spread them out a bit.
I will say that it can take an annoyingly long time to find the maintenance dose of anything I need.
