Hi everyone, hoping for some help please.

These results were done by medi checks last May so I’m aware I need to get new set done.

TSH 2.79 (range 0.27-4.2)

Free T3 4pmol/L (range 3.1-6.8)

Free thyroxine 11.6 (range 12-22)

I do not feel well this past few weeks, it’s like I crashed, truly exhausted !

iv been putting it down to menopause but I’m on hrt.

my GP will only do TSH and it was in range.

many thanks

Hello, welcome aboard. 👋

If you could get some new results for a full thyroid panel that would be great... as you have rightly spotted your low fT3/4 is going to make you feel pretty lousy.

Ideally test around 9am when TSH should be at it's highest

Thyroid and meno symptoms are very similar and when combined 😱

Hi Eeyore thank you!!

I had to use my hubbys email as I could not change my forgotten password. How do I change back to my own email please?

There is a Help Centre for HealthUnlocked at the bottom of the screen. You might find that worth a try.

Hi Eeyore, re my previous post, I’m waiting on blood results from thyroid uk. I do feel worse than lousy, among a list of symptoms, I haven’t been up to doing my chores and feel low sometimes extremely low with zero motivation so something has to be wrong. Posters had said my previous results in May weren’t good so I can only think iv gone down even more.

I wanted to ask you OR anyone else as I am already on Estrogen only hrt and still struggling to get that right, will it be extra hard to get on right thyroid med ….if needed?

I was on 2mg tablet hrt and changed to 75 patch 5 weeks ago, still wakening with awful heart palps/racing and sweats and now with change over to patches, hot flushes in the evening🙁 Is it possible thyroid could be connected?

Sorry for long post but iv been really ill on and off for over 2 years and iv now hit a brick wall.

Many thanks

It's so rotten when menopause and thyroid collide as it is tricky to separate some of the symptoms.

I would say if you are still suffering with hot flushes then you aren't on enough oestrogen... when I had this issue I just added extra patches or half patches till I found my dose and then I swapped to Lenzetto which is easier to adjust dosing. I'm assuming no womb if no progesterone? It could well be that a little progesterone would be of benefit as it is generally calming and needed for balance... NHS generally say no womb no progesterone!

Have a look at this and compare the doses, it might be that you just aren't absorbing the patch well or you just need more... thebms.org.uk/wp-content/up...

Usual side effect of low thyroid hormones is that you feel cold to the core, swollen tongue, scaly skin etc etc etc

Likely that with your low thyroid levels all of your vits and mins will be rock bottom too

Thank you Eeyore, I appreciate your reply. I get my estrogen levels checked mid November so will see how I’m absorbing.

I’m a mess atm, never felt this low or fatigued in my entire life🙁

Lets hope your latest blood tests highlight other pointers 🤗

Are you getting a full iron panel as well as thyroid?

Thank you. Yes I think so

As already commented, you do need bloods done again as soon as possible. When you have results, post them on here (with ranges).

You don’t say what dose of Levothyroxine you’re currently taking. However the results you’ve posted from last May do suggest that you are undermedicated and need a dose increase.

The more information you can give to forum the more help you’ll get.

By the way, not sure whether you started HRT before or after your diagnosis but you should be aware that thyroid meds need to be increased when on HRT.

Sorry, meant to say I have never been on any meds for this! GP only does TSH and kept saying normal. I have crashed big time last few weeks and thought of long covid or menopause, I have never felt so I’ll in my entire life.

I had posted my results on a menopause forum yesterday and ladies replied which def got me thinking. In a way I want something discovered as I feel so bad.

I have sent off to have thorough bloods done asap.

Thank you

Looking again at your last bloods, things are not looking too good.

Will be pleased to comment when you get more blood results - as will so many others.

Keep smiling 🙂

Hello Foxyterrior and welcome to the forum :

Are you already diagnosed with hypothyroidism and taking T4 medication ?

Your T4 is under the range annd there is not enough T4 circulating in your bloodstream to freely convert to T3 which is the active hormone that runs all your bodily functions, from your physical through to your mental, emotional, psychological and spiritual well being, your inner central heating system and your metabolism.

Thes results are almost 6 months old and imagine you are feeling more worse with every month that passes -

What has your doctor said - about this below range T4 ?

Your metabolism is slowed and your core strength vitamins and mineralsl will llikely be low and compromising your health issues further -

please also arrange to get your ferritin, folate, B12 and vitamin D levels runs and we can talk you through what they all mean and suggest your first best steps back to better health,

Hello Pennyannie and thank you for kindly replying.

I am not diagnosed as iv been told by GP it’s the TSH. My tests were done by Medicheck’s in May. I have today sent of for a thorough testing by uk company and a consultation, I cannot feel this I’ll for no reason. I have many of the symptoms. You are completely right about all the implications….I could not begin to tell you how bad I have felt! Also yes I have over months got worse.

I will be posting my results in due course. I have used Thyroiduk as recommended.

Tk you so much

Also ESSENTIAL to include testing of vitamin D, folate, B12 and ferritin

Plus thyroid antibodies

If GP is unhelpful…..test including vitamins via Medichecks

Recommended that all thyroid blood tests early morning, ideally just before 9am, only drink water between waking and test

This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip)

Private tests are available as NHS currently rarely tests Ft3 or all relevant vitamins
