Iron is complex

TIBC low - see this helpful chart

labtestsonline.org.uk/tests...

are these your Dad’s results?

What vitamin supplements are being taken ?

No vitamin D result

NHS test here

vitamindtest.org.uk

Folate low - likely to benefit from a daily vitamin B complex

Low folate

supplementing a good quality daily vitamin B complex, one with folate in (not folic acid)

This can help keep all B vitamins in balance and will help improve B12 levels too

Difference between folate and folic acid

healthline.com/nutrition/fo...

Many Hashimoto’s patients have MTHFR gene variation and can have trouble processing folic acid.

B vitamins best taken after breakfast

Thorne Basic B recommended vitamin B complex that contains folate, but they are large capsules. (You can tip powder out if can’t swallow capsule)

Thorne currently difficult to find at reasonable price, should be around £20-£25. iherb.com often have in stock. Or try ebay

Other options

healthunlocked.com/thyroidu....

Igennus B complex popular option too. Nice small tablets. Most people only find they need one per day. But a few people find it’s not high enough dose

IMPORTANT......If you are taking vitamin B complex, or any supplements containing biotin, remember to stop these 7 days before ALL BLOOD TESTS , as biotin can falsely affect test results

endocrinenews.endocrine.org...

In week before blood test, when you stop vitamin B complex, might want to consider taking a separate folate supplement (eg Jarrow methyl folate 400mcg)

Hi SlowDragon

No, they aren't my Dad's results.

They are mine that I had done on Monday this week at the hospital.

Vitamin D was done only a few months ago, I had advice from SeasideSusie. I am going to get another MMH Vitamin D test as we move into winter.

I think I might get a folate supplement.

Thank you for the links, greatly appreciated!

If TIBC is low do I need to increase my iron supplement?

Also, as B vitamins are better to be taken after breakfast can they be taken near thyroid medication?

(I have just bought some of Dr's Best Folate 800 with Quatrefolic; I hope this is ok!

Good question….iron is low

Ferritin looks reasonable

Will flag humanbean for her opinion

Thank you!

I have just added to my previous message, that I have bought some Dr's Best 800 Folate; is this brand and ingredient ok?

Ideally you would supplement a vitamin B complex to improve all B vitamins together

You could alternate with Dr Best Folate initially and in week before blood test take folate only

OK. Thank you!

I am uncertain whether to increase iron, hopefully HumanBean may be able to help?
