B Complex and urine colour

Hi there,

After recommendations on here following my posting my Vit B12 results I have started taking the Thorne Vitamin B complex. My urine is now almost florescent yellow? Is that expected or does it mean I should stop taking it?

It's normal for the color of urine to change to neon yellow when on a b complex. One of the b vitamins causes this.

It's the Riboflavin (B2) that causes this. All it means is that your body is getting rid of any excess of B2 through your kidneys, it's excreted in urine hence the bright yellow colour. Most B vitamins are water soluble so any excess will be excreted.

No reason not too, as I said your body is excreting the excess. There's 10mg B2 in Thorne Basic B, if it worries you change to another bioavailable B Complex with a lesser amount.

The bright yellow is how I know I've remembered to take my b complex but it does look a bit scary at 1st. Not as much as many years ago taking a vitamin e tablet which turned urine green

Ha ha! I remember frantically googling to see what disease my florescent yellow urine indicated.

Then I stopped the complex for a week because I went away for a while and it went back to basic straw yellow and I made the connection😳🙄

I wanted to show my husband as I was so impressed with how neon it was but strangely he declined! 😂🤪

I know we keep describing it as excess being excreted but I like to think that it’s also doing good making it’s way through our renal urinary systems too.
