I’ve had hypothyroid symptoms for around 18 months or so but was being investigated for neurological causes, nothing found.

Recently took a private test that showed slightly raised TSH and low but not under range T3 & T4. TPO & TGA positive. Took these to a routine wellness check and had bloods repeated on NHS.

TSH came in as normal at 1.0 (0.35-4.9) but T4 not tested. TPO 99 (0-6). He was disappointed that lab hadn’t done T4.

Took hubby with me as feeling like a hypochondriac and needed moral support.

Plan is to start levothyroxine at 50mg then retest in 3 months.

I’m surprised and relieved to say the least although I know it might not be the magic potion I’m hoping. Just want to be able to get through a day without napping and feel enthusiastic about life again.

Thanks for all your help on my previous post, much appreciated.

its a shame you still have to have another person there before GPs take you seriously in 2023. Thats what happened to me 20 years ago and better still if it was a man but it got the ball rolling. Well done you. Private tests are the way to go if you can afford to and at least give you some control. Love and hugs as days are long when you can't do much.
