I had my gall bladder out in August of 2021. Since then my glucose numbers have come back as pre-diabetic, I have gained 20 lbs, have heartburn problems, and intestinal challenges. The answer from Dr’s, “more meds”.

I have since read that the thyroid and gall bladder are of course interconnected in some way - and one impacts the other. (I am also hypothyroid diagnosed in 2006)

I exercise at least 4 x’s per week and am careful what I eat but I have had very little change in weight.

I have an appointment with a nutritionist next week just to see what else I might try.

I really do wish I had not had my gall bladder removed. I had no stones or obstruction - I discovered later that it was the “release valve” that was the problem.

Try not to worry. Per the 2 hour result, you have what could be called a very slightly impaired glucose tolerance response but it’s not at a level that is considered to be diabetes. You may hear it referred to pre-diabetes but equally, a one off result may be nothing to worry about—could just be a blip. If it isn’t a one off, dietary changes could sort that out, particularly if you’re overweight at all (and even if you aren’t).

This is quite a good explanation swbh.nhs.uk/wp-content/uplo...

So the middle number is the worst. My endocrinologist said no where near alll number as fine no ore diabetes I'm well under all markers. I specifically said no ore diabetes. Why did he say that, I'm scared been eating normally

You don’t need to be scared, it’s a pretty normal result, honestly.

It looks like a 3 hour glucose tolerance test.

One hour after drinking the glucose solution, a normal blood glucose level is lower than 180 mg/dL (10 mmol/L).

Two hours after drinking the glucose solution, a normal blood glucose level is lower than 155 mg/dL (8.6 mmol/L).

Three hours after drinking the glucose solution, a normal blood glucose level is lower than 140 mg/dL (7.8 mmol/L)

Your one hour result was less than 10 mmol/L. So that means you definitely don’t have diabetes according to this test.

I'm sorry I'm I sound dense but which number is off? Is it pre diabetic? Ive been so dizzy. Originally for them prompting me to do am ogtt test my reading was 5.5.. I'm so scared

I’m not sure why a reading of 5.5 prompted a test—that’s absolutely normal (normal blood sugar tends to be between 4 and 7-ish). Who knows what was in their minds!

It’s that third reading that’s slightly out—the reading at the 3 hour point. By the 3 hour point your blood sugar should have dropped a tiny bit more than it did—but it’s really not that far away from a normal result, promise. And it could have been caused by all sorts of things. Ask any type 1 diabetic what throws off their blood sugar readings and they’ll tell you it varies according to things like whether they’ve got a cold or didn’t sleep well.

A one-off slightly out of range result means nothing on its own—and as it was only slightly out of range your doctor has decided it’s not worth checking it again.

It’s all ok. 👍

What should have the last number have read? Do I have pre diabetes? Should I be eating a certain way?

I'm.sorry last few days I'm.so.anxious so dizzy thinking it's diabetes and scared aboit my brain heart I'm crazy

Preferably that last result should have been 7.8 or less.

But it’s a one off result. If it happened again, you might want to think about changing your diet, reducing your carbohydrate a little perhaps.

For now, everything is ok.

I only weigh 70 kg. Would I be a pre diabetic on those results?

I had a blocked bile duct and stones. Was awful. But i have never ever had high glucose numbers and I’m only 40 and slightly pre diabetic. My endocrinologist says I’m fine and not to worry but my gp says eat healthy. I’m dizzy every day since surgery ( 2 weeks post surgery now ) and think what is happening to me :(
