Hi, im diagnosed with Hashimotos Thyroiditis and I take 125mcg of levothyroxine. A few years ago I had my gallbladder removed due to it being full of stones and a large polyp and they found that I have fatty liver disease. The only advise I was given was to drop my calories to 200 a day for a few weeks to get rid of all the fat. I haven't been able to do this. I have gastroparesis as well and I can only eat certain things, I also have reactive hypoglycemia so I need to eat a certain amount or I get very low blood sugar. I am overweight but that's because I'm on high dose steroids for my severe asthma. I've cut a large amount of sugar and only eat 2 meals a day with some snacks in-between. I gained weight rapidly without changing my food.
I also have Ehlers Danlos Syndrome (hypermobility type), Postural orthostatic tachycardia Syndrome and a few other conditions.
I was wondering does anyone here have non alcoholic fatty liver disease? Do you see anyone to check it's progress? Can it be linked to Hashimotos Thyroiditis?
I feel like I've been left with little advice other than I'm now being told to have a gastric bypass. I don't over eat so it wouldn't help but my endocrinologist doesn't believe me, it's incredibly frustrating.
Can a fatty liver cause damage to my actual liver? What can be done to help it?
Sorry for all the questions but I just have no idea what to do or how to even help it really.

200 calories is extraordinarily low and I wouldn't have though sustainable for a few weeks. Usual level is 1200/1300 for dieters.Poor you it sounds like you have a lot to cope with. Have you been referred to a dietician? It's not easy when you have a complex medical history.
I was diagnosed with fatty liver many years ago pre Hypothyroid diagnosis. I think mine was caused by my Hypothyroidism and undiagnosed Coeliacs. Since optimising my thyroid treatment, B12 jabs and GF my big tummy has gone and whilst I'm still heavier than I'd like, one more dress size down would be great, I'm far more in proportion.
Really sorry you have so much to contend with.Yes I was diagnosed with fatty liver a few years after low thyroid diagnosed. Found after ALT were repeated raised slightly when endocrinologist would do regular bloods. Had ultrasound and found gallstones too.
Same, given no advice apart from eat less move more which we both know doesn't work when we have these conditions side by side. Also told pre diabetic but no advice given. I also told by physio and podiatrist I have some hypermobile joints but no issues.
Fast forward to now and after likely 8 years of fatty liver and most definitely insulin resistance and never been able to lose weight.
Been on 1000/1200 healthy diet for all this time with only weight gain.
Start of this year started exercising exercise bike, simple weights in the garden and walking.
Upped calories to 1800 and started to notice difference in body shape but no real weight loss just fluctuating daily.
In May I switched to Morningside T3 from Mercury pharma as not feeling great and realised had issues again with fillers and binders. Started to feel t3 was working as should and felt good. Just over a week later I started taking berberine supplement. Since then or could be Morningside t3 I can't say for sure but I'm ever so slowly losing weight and not fluctuating daily as before. Even went away for 2 days and only put 1/2 lb on..never known before.
I had bloods done with endo other week and my ALT's are lowest ever in normal range. He is happy for me to stay on berberine and said it looks like I've now reversed the fatty liver but I know exercising will have helped massively too plus limiting alcohol.
Thyroid, fatty liver, insulin resistance can all be connected and to have all 3 then makes losing weight impossible but to help all 3 you need to lose weight, viscous circle!
I would read as much as you can on berberine and see what you think.
I take 1 ,500mg berberine supplement before each meal.
