After being extremely anxious as to what to expect from a PIP assessment I couldn't sleep last night. However it wasn't as I expected and they were rather nice! My concern was that my Hashimotos didn't seem much of a concern but they focused on my Lupus.
Tbh I think both are huge contributing factors to my day to day abilities and health symptoms. Just seems that thyroid disease just isn't acknowledged as it should be. I've got neither under control and I'm sure they each trigger the other.
I was told by a friend her Mum keeps getting called back in every few months. But I queried this and they told me with my lupus (no mention of my autoimmune thyroiditis) I would only be called back every 1-2 years. Just wondered what other peoples experiences were?

Hmm not sure. My son gets pip for a different illness. It's quite new as it used to be DLA. It might be once they realise you need it due to medical condition they will say it's for an indefinite time or maybe for 5 years.
You should be getting a thyroid follow up every 6 months if your medication is stable (every 2 months if it's not). Which meds do you take for thyroid? Are your TSH and FT3 levels good?
Also do you get your vitamin D tested? It's often low in both lupus and hashi's my cousin started taking vitamin d supplements about a year ago and has seen a reduction in her lupus antibodies for the first time in 15 or more years.
Thanks but I'm talking about my PIP assessments not Endo appts. PIP today seemed to assume my Lupus is triggering my thyroiditis as my levels are right (I have bloods for TSH FT3 & FT4 every 4 weeks) and I supplement so on the ball with it all. But am newly diagnosed SLE so early days on treatment.
I don't think there is a connection other than when you have one auto immune disease you can get others. I just think maybe if you have a flare from one it can trigger symptoms of the other as your run down and sick but thanks
