So, slightly nervous as I was asked by endo to book a blood test. GP had been informed it was alright if my TSH was between 0.1-0.2 by endo. As a result GP asked me to come in for a TSH test. I contacted GP to confirm they would be doing the full range of tests and they said they would be and this was confirmed again when my blood was taken this morning. I know (from private testing my TSH is a bit below this, often 0.08 so they would likely blow a gasket if they just saw the one result, but my T4 and T3 have consistently been low at bottom of range so not concerned.
Message from GP this afternoon:
Your T4 is 12 (range 12-22) and T3 3.3 They didn’t test TSH today
This seems to be a bit low. Would you like to increase your dose and retest in 4 weeks.
Proves the point they shouldn’t go on TSH alone…….

Interesting update though. The TSH results finally came through. They were 0.12 (which endo would be happy with)
I also saw two readings on my medical test results for T4. The one with TSH read 11.7 which was below range. The comment from the lab was along the lines of ‘although T4 suggests under medication, TSH was either suggestive of previous suppression or non compliance’ (both of which smacked of medical gaslighting to me as the implied criticism was I had done something wrong and no understanding of taking T3, in my case NDT, and impact on TSH).
They appear to then have retested the TSH as there is a second result (on the same blood sample) stating levels were 12 and ‘within range so no action needed’
