Any views please would be welcome on my recent thyroid results.
Took upon myself since previous posts and private testing with Monitor my health to titrate from 75mcg to 100mcg . Dr unaware and no further action indicated by him. I have noticed I am feeling much better in recent weeks.
I have appt in August to review my FBC which has been tested too and has been consistently abnormal for 2+ years.
Wondering if I should do the right thing by telling GP I have increased dose but fear in doing so he might drop me down to 75mcg or just carry on as I am and say nothing?
My doctors do not do T3, I tested 4.2 pmol/L for T3 privately with Monitor my Health but this was back in April, I would have to request another reading this way again to get my current T3 levels.
But we need a TSH, Free T3 and Free T4 reading from the same blood sample so maybe use MMHealth for all these 3 readings.
Since you increased your T4 the logic is that your T3 should also have increased - but we don't know - but accept you feel better, so likely your T3 is higher than it was before the T4 increase.
since the body converts T4 into T3 which is the active hormone that runs the body and too low a T3 causes the symptoms of hypothyroidism.
Conversion of T4 into T3 can be compromised by non optimal levels of ferritin, folate, B12 and vitamin D, inflammation, any physiological stress ( emotional or physical ) depression, dieting and ageing.
That’s reassuring to hear and pleased for you feeling better for it. I do have a Drs appt not until August though but I am seeing a different one so hoping he will listen to me 🤞🏻
I think I would be inclined to do another test before the next Drs appointment, and hopefully it will show your levels are much better, and you feel better. Then you can show the GP that the dose increase has been beneficial. He cannot argue against blood results because that is what they always use!
