low blood pressure

I’m still working out levothyroxine dose and looks low I need to add t3 but depends on next blood results in a few weeks. Meanwhile feeling worse than ever on 100 mcg with bp around 90/60 weak dizzy and breathless.

I read if you need t3 too much t4 can lower your t3 and you feel more hypothyroid?

could this be the case or should I investigate other possible causes.

thanks again!!

Have you increased your vit D intake and tried a different type of iron?

Have you had a full iron panel done as per this post? healthunlocked.com/thyroidu...

Can recommend taking iron with orange juice or anything containing vit C to help absorption.

Members of this group are getting good results with this product. threearrowsnutra.com/en-uk/...

Weak, dizzy and breathless are all symptoms of low iron/ferritin. You probably don;t need to look too much further than that.

I think you're talking about high FT4 levels causing T4 to convert to more rT3 than T3? That does happen, but the difference in your FT3 wouldn't be that great. Your last FT3 was so very low that you would be feeling very hypo, anyway. And given the FT4 level on your last test, it was probably already doing that. So, I think your main problem is that whatever your level of FT4, you are a very poor converter and you need/needed some T3, not more T4. Unfortunately, doctors are too poorly educated in thyroid to recognise that. But, even so, all nutrients do need to be optimal.

how do I get t3? I’m going back to my gp with this but does it have to be a private doctor ? I have the list from thyroid Uk and keep looking but all variable prices and approaches so I’ve not made a decision but really need to try T3 as might be my way back to health finally

You might get it from an NHS endo, but a GP cannot initiate the prescription.

I think it could well be low T3. Another thought is low adrenal function. When my bp gets v low eg 90/60 I have found taking adrenal support sorts it out (for me).

Hope you feel better.

yes I’m working on adrenal function with a functional medicine practitioner had been making progress till this recent increase in levothyroxine has sent me backwards.

Good. Vit C and magnesium also help with adrenals.

I used to have very low blood pressure (sometimes lower than 90/60), learning to sit down real quick before coming close to passing out. My FT3 was at the bottom of range, sometimes below. Now that I am on lio, I do not have that problem anymore (along with a whole lot of other problems solved). Do you have your FT3 results plus interval? Low T3 could be the problem, but, of course, it could be any number of things causing low bp.

yes it’s been around 3.6 on all tests since august last year. I’ve been on levo for 10 months with no change in t3 but t4 went up from 12 to 20-22. Tsh suppressed very low 0.05. I’m really suspicious that t3 lies at root of my fatigue low bp and other symptoms so would really like to try lio

Very pleased to hear your good experience with it I’m so desperate to feel better!

It might sound heartless, but desperation to feel better, can be motivating. I waited 40 years for help. Most of this time I put my trust and my health in the hands of doctors. Only when they really started to undeniably mistreat me, I started to collect information obsessively. I did it for my children. If I did not have children I would not be around. It was, and still is, a long journey. Many times I gave up. But life can also be kind and it sent people who directed me and guided me into the right direction. Eventually I also ended up here. I don't know anybody here personally. In fact I know very little about anybody here. But it feels like I have found good friends. It is very important to have this net that, I know, will catch me when I fall. It makes it easier to keep going. It hurts to hear about your desperation. I wish, I could just say "the word" or snap my finger and release you. All I can say, though, is, "Hang in there. Fight for your health. There always is a way, even if it seems like an eternity to find it. You can do it." With all my heart I wish you all the best.

yes this forum plus the pernicious anaemia and menopause matters forums have been a literal lifesaver for me. I would still be utterly clueless if not for the help and advice I have received here. Doesn’t bear thinking about. One huge positive for the internet! It is a long journey when you have multiple health issues that don’t nearly fit what the doctors are taught. I also have been searching for years and still learning but at least I understand a bit more how to take responsibility for my health and I make sure I tell other people where to go and look for information when they get stuck with poor care

Thanks for your kind words and wish you all the best.

Mag999,

I have never had low blood pressure but I had totally optimal after a thyroidectomy and with levothyroxine only (118/78) .

When T3 was added it shot right up and does for some.

So the addition of T3 **might** alleviate your frustrating symptoms of low blood pressure on its own.

All the best to you.
