HiI had a thyroid blood test last week. The doctors receptionist rang yesterday to say my Cholesterol was high and the doctor had asked her to ask if I was taking the medication.
I was taken aback when she said the doctor would like to speak to me but the earliest phone appointment was in 3 weeks.
I suggested that the High cholesterol wasn't that urgent yet.
Any advice on this please

When hypo we get low stomach acid which means we cannot absorb vitamins well from our food, regardless of a great diet. For thyroid hormone to work well we need OPTIMAL levels of vitamins. Have you recently or could you ask your GP to test levels of ferritin, folate, B12 & D3?
High cholesterol is often caused by too low a dose of Levo.
hi , when I was diagnosed hypo my cholesterol was 14.85 and just gradually came down as my dose of levo was increased. Cholesterol isn’t as dangerous as doctors make it out to be. The body makes it and needs it. I must admit though that I was worried when mine was so high. Jo xx
I haven't had readings yet because can't talk to Dr until 19th April. I will as for printout of tests.I am post menapausal. I do take Vitamin D. I said I didn't want stations, so I take 10mg Ezetimibe (unsure of spelling)
Besides potentially un-optimised thyroid levels which others have addressed, I suspect that the fact that you're post-menopause accounts for higher cholesterol. It's understandable that people don't want cholesterol levels to be too high. But what is too high is the question imo. My mum's tot cholesterol is stable at ~7 and she is also post-menopause and with CKD (also likely associated with higher cholesterol). Her level seems fairly typical on HU.
She has elected not to take offered statins but to deal with the above, underlying conditions naturally. Also I doubt she would consider Ezetimibe because of it's side effects which I hope you don't experience.
