Hello

I've recently been to GP and requested bloods as have many of the hypo symptoms (weight gain and coldness especially). GP saying thyroid normal and no treatment. Won't refer to endo either

I had gallbladder removed in June last year.

Results:

(Pages of results not sure if anything else needed)

FBC all normal in range including vit D

Except iron serum transferrin 3.87 (2.0-3.6)

Iron binding 97 (50-90)

TSH 3.4 (0.27-4.2)

Free T4 14 (12-22)

SE peroxidase ab 15 (<34)

Any help much appreciated

Thanks

Welcome to forum.

Looking at thyroid results

TSH 3.4 (0.27-4.2)

Free T4 14 (12-22)

As both are in range doctors will says nothing to treat but the FT4 is quite low.

TSH is high but doctors don’t get concerned with this until above range twice, 3 months apart or over 10.

Your TPO antibodies are negative, but there’s another antibody TG ab which could also be tested.

FT3 is the active powerful hormone but this often isn’t tested unless TSH & FT4 are abnormal.

There are private options to test TG antibodies & FT3.

Might be good idea to repeat the test including these.

Do you remember what time blood draw was taken? Had you eaten prior. This can affect results.

Recommend draws are arranged for close to 9, fast overnight. Cease biotin supplements 3 dats prior. Can interfere with test.

Could you add vitamin D results as in range is not same as optimal.

Was ferritin, folate & B12 tested?

I’m not knowledgable about iron, but if a full iron panel was taken add it as those you do will need to see results in context.

Thanks for your speedy reply!

Bloods were taken about 10am and I hadn't eaten

Vitamin D 69 (no range on print out)

Serum ferritin 69 (13-150)

B12 328 (197-771)

Folate 10 (3.9-26.8)

Serum iron 21.3 (5.8-34.5)

Transferrin 3.87 (2.0-3.6)

Unsaturated binding 97 (50-90)

Transf saturation 22% (16-40)

I will look into getting TG antibodies and FT3 tested, maybe privately

Thanks
