Irish sea moss?

Someone was telling me yesterday that they use Irish sea moss and swear by it. Googled it and read lots of positive comments about its health benefits.

Does anyone here use it? Does it mess with levothyroxine/thyroid as it’s rich in iodine?

Thank you 😊

I personally would not touch any supplement containing iodine with an under active thyroid nadchaoli. Have you tested key thyroid vitamins recently (ferritin, folate, B12 and Vit D) as having these optimal is key to supporting thyroid health.

How much Levothyroxine are you currently taking

Do you always get same brand Levothyroxine at each prescription

ESSENTIAL to test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12 at least annually

What vitamin supplements are you currently taking

I was told that if you're already taking levothyroxine you don't need to take any kind of iodine supplements. It would be a waste

I have no experience with Irish sea moss. I have experienced that being hypothyroid, I can't tolerate excess iodine. I believe many others who are hypothyroid have that experience as well.

If I take any form of iodine, even from sea weed, my thyroid goes out of whack and it takes me ages to balance it again. I avoid iodine. Lots of studies out there showing that extra iodine makes thyroid problems worst.

I may rise your thyroid levels due to more hormon produktion in te thyroid. You will need to lower your thyroid medication. This will not happem to ever one alwas. tom some poepledepending if you are depleted in iodine or not AND if you have a working thyroid.
