Welcome to the group. If you could fill in your profile by clicking your picture icon top right of screen it helps members to understand your thyroid journey.
We'd be very happy to help you with understanding results and helping you to feel well.
When you post results we need to see the range for each test - numbers i brackets after your result number. Do you have those please?
Do you have a diagnosis of hypothyroidism and on treatment? If so what treatment are you on and how much?
Are you looking to try and get a diagnosis?
so I basically have an enlarged thyroid so the tests were run.iv attached both results.
no diagnosis and no treatment but a referral to endocrinology.
will look at my profile thank u
How do you feel?
So TPO antibodies were negative but theres a different type of antibody that the NHS doesn't test for called Thyroglobulin. You could get private bloods done to test for that. List of companies here with discount codes. thyroiduk.org/help-and-supp...
Your TSH is OK yet your FT4 is very low in range.
Would be worth checking vitamin levels - ferritin, folate, B12 & D3. Sometimes GP will do this, otherwise use a private company as above.
Sounds like you might need an ultrasound scan of your thyroid.
I feel awful! constantly tired even after a decent sleep. yes she said one level was low but because the other one was ok she said it should be OK. somethings not right but I'm not sure what.
apparent endocrinology should do an ultrasound but will look into that link u sent for the other tests.
thank u
I'm sorry you're feeling awful. This is a dreadful condition.
Doctors are trained only to look at the TSH result which is not always a good thing. Its really not 100% reliable and theres something called secondary hypothyroidism where the TSH is like yours and pretty good but the FT4 goes very low and even below range. The TSH just doesnt respond as it should to the low FT4.
When you book blood tests, book for 9am or as close as possible as this is when TSH is highest. Fast for the test for consistency.
my thyroid looks enlarged and has been for approx 4 years when it was picked up on accidently by an ENT consultant. an ultrasound was done but they said it was just nodules. lately my throat feels restricted and I'm constantly tired, weak nails, hair falling out and gaining weight
hi
What are you symptoms? How do you feel?
From the screenshots you attached your FT4 is at the bottom in the range (that can give fatigue).
TSH is in the normal range, hypo thyroid like me are towards 4.0+ when they are first tested. Hyper tend to be below zero. Have you experienced hyperthyroid symptoms?
You don’t have TPO Antibodies (one of the types of autoimmune antibodies) but it doesn’t look like they tested Tg or TRAb so you can’t rule out autoimmune yet.
I see you said your thyroid is enlarged, is that a goitre?
I hope you get the answers you need 🌱
