I'm struggling with hypothyroid symptoms but our newish GPs seem unable to see past the numbers. I've done everything I can from advice on this forum but my last blood test, my request by using econsult, is 'satisfactory', T4 17 (11-23 ) and TSH 0.1 (0.27-4.5). Levothyroxine is 125mcg, reduced last July from 150mcg

Do I plod on or try again to suggest that 50% through range has never worked for me or ask if TSH is so important why, now it is below range which is where it has frequently been for at least the last ten years, is that the reason and is osteoporosis their concern? There seems to be no way to see or speak to the GP

Shows extremely low Ft3

What vitamin supplements are you currently taking

Suggest you retest at least TSH, Ft4 and Ft3 to see if Ft3 is improving or not

Do you always get same brand levothyroxine at each prescription

Test early morning and last dose levothyroxine 24 hours before test

If Ft3 under 50% through range then Email Thyroid U.K. for list of thyroid specialist endocrinologists and doctors who will prescribe T3 to improve your low Ft3

In previous post I gave you link about LOW Ft3 and link to osteoporosis

I do get the same Levothyroxine each month. I use BetterYou 3000 with K2 and Thorne B vitamins. I really think my best option is to see an endochrinologist and possibly a blood test before the appointment

I keep all test results and wondered if it's usual for TSH to drop below range after taking Levothyroxine for a number of years. For the first 8 years mostly all in range but last ten years TSH well below range.

So if you’re taking Better You vitamin D with K2 that’s 3 sprays of vitamin D per day

No other vitamin supplements

Did you not start a daily vitamin B complex after low folate result

Yes hundreds (probably thousands) of members have in going arguments with medics over very low or suppressed TSH

Most important results are always Ft3, followed by Ft4

LEVO DOSE SHOULD NOT BE DETERMINED BY TSH

The link between TSH, FT4 and FT3 in hyperthyroidism is very different from taking thyroid hormone (T4) in therapy. In hyperthyroidism, FT4 and FT3 are usually well above range and TSH is very low or undetectable. In therapy, FT4 can be high-normal or just above normal, TSH can be suppressed but FT3 (the important hormone that controls your health) will usually be in the normal range. FT4 and TSH are of little use in controlling therapy and FT3 is the defining measure. A recent paper has shown this graphically:

Hi my T4 is 12.5 and TSH is 1.16. That means normal but I don't feel normal at all! I'm in a bit of a situation as are you by the sounds of it so I'm watching this thread. Regards

Sorry to hear that. I've been better than now but GPs who follow numbers aren't useful.
