Any advice on changing to Metavive?

I am hoping to swop from Armour to Metavive soon and wonder

1. Do I need to move gradually from one to another and if so how?

2. Am on 2 1/4 g Armour a day at moment . Is that equal to

4x Metavive II

1x Metavive I a day?

3. If I run out of Metavive II can I make up with Metavive I?

Grateful for any advice.

As there is no declared hormone content in Metavive, it's not possible for anyone to say how much Metavive you should take.

If I run out of Metavive II can I make up with Metavive I?

Metavive l is half the dose of Metavive ll so yes, you could use Metavive l if you run out of Metavive ll, just double the dose.

My experience switching from Thyroid s, 1 3/4 a day. I was on 3 x Metavive 1 for over a year but last November felt the need to increase so went up to 4 metavive 1, now 2 metavive 2 a day. Blood tests show Ts h .5 free t4 bottom of range and free t3 just over 6 , top of range 6.8. Some people need much higher dose of metavive, others don't. I would advise taking less than you think and work up. And good luck.

Thanks for that, that's really helpful. Did you switch straight to the 3x Metavive 1 and cut out the Thyoid S completely or do it gradually?

I just switched to 2 metavive 1 for six weeks then tested to see results. I'd felt so bad for months I couldn't judge dosage any other way. Pretty sure there was something wrong with the batch of thyroid s I had. I was actually mid range on both which surprised me but increased to 3 for 8 weeks then retested. Fine till October/ November last year so upped, tested and all very good.

Hi! Could I please ask how you are doing on Metavive now? I'm thinking about starting it, and would very much appreciate any information. Thanks!

Sorry just saw this. Doing okay. Free T4 bottom of range but nothing I can do as can't take synthetics. Free T3 now 6.3 on 2metavive two a day ( was on 1 1/2- 1 3/4 thyroid s) Feel,... hmm, 'lighter' on metavive compared to thyroid s. Good luck😁

Hi EEIR, Not sure if you wanted to talk to me or fibrolinda but just noticed your post.

I've been on Metavive for about 5 weeks now. I haven't noticed any improvement from Armour nor any problems. If feels as if I am on exactly the same medication. I didn't notice anything transitioning. I went straight from 2 g Armour to 4 Metavive II . I did Thyroid tests recently and was pleased with them. I will post them if you're interested. As I am still struggling with low energy and other symptoms I will have to try something else but otherwise I would stay on Metavive as it is much cheaper and more easily available than Armour.
