not much to go on..

Hi l have Ord's thyroiditis,(30+yrs) had been on 115mg NP since Aug., and felt I had too high of a dose. Labs Dec. 12 show FT3 @3.6(2.0-4.4), rT3 16.0 (9.2-24.1) FT$ 1.19 (.82-1.77) TSH .005 (.45-4.5) so "we" dropped to 90. Had labs run a week ago (lab had order, but did not run TSH or rT3, TSH, or FT4, complete iron panel!!) so limited results. I have been having horrid time sleeping & wondering others thoughts on this. Lab, also, did not run B12, but D was upper mid-range, Ferritin 72 (15-150) and only thyroid test they ran was FT3 which is 2.7 (2-4.4) Any & all thoughts appreciated Thanks!

Why was your dose reduced after your December results? FT3 and FT4 were within range. TSH is below range and when taking T3 in any form, be it synthetic T3 or in NDT then it's going to lower TSH often to the point of suppression. Any doctor prescribing combination replacement thyroid hormone should know this. If you felt overmedicated then fair enough but the reduction has lowered your FT3 to 2.7 (2-4.4) which so how do you feel on this dose? If you feel undermedicated then you need a dose somewhere between 90 and 115mg.

FT3 is really the only test which is relevant when on NDT.

Hi, thank you, thank you I did feel overmedicated-hot all the time, anxious were the main ones. Dr was a bit concerned as my rT3 rose a good bit while on the 105 (sorry, I mis-typed, I was on 105, not 115) Hard to find a compromise between 90 & 105 and there was a big drop in my FT3 as you read. I had been on 105 9/01through lab of 12/10 and had been feeling too much NDT a few weeks prior to labs Honestly, I feel pretty good on the 90mg, but I sleep about 4-5hrs/night the past 2 weeks. I am am a 7hr a night sleeper No other issues going on, so wondering about thyroid's part in sleep issue. So do you come across members whose sleep issues have resolved w/dose adjustments? I have read links here where rT3 is not the issue that sites in(US) state it to be. My endo, who is pretty open-minded, is worried about cardiac (I'm healthy 71)issues w/the dose I am on. BP is 108 & heart rate around 60 I'd say that is pretty good thanks for your help!

i assume i've probably got Ord's.. since i never had a goitre but i've definiteley got autoimmune hypo cos TPOab were>3000.

Technically it's only Hahimoto's if there is/ was an enlarged thyroid.

In case anyone is interested ( gP certainly isn't ... meet Mr Hashimoto and Mr Ord ( and Mr Graves) healthunlocked.com/thyroidu...
