hi all, just an update from my post the other day regarding my visit to a&e. I came to a different hospitals a&e and was treated very differently from the offset. I was called straight in and an endocrinologist (not mine) came to see me and admitted me. She said that my thyroid is at a dangerous levels and also that it seemed that the PTU was having a bad effect on my liver and bone marrow.
I was kept in and seen by a dietitian who has put me on a feeding tube down my nose due to the swelling and the pain. I have lost a lot of weight since my last appointment also. They have put me on steroids, thiamine. Vitamins and oramorphe. I have been in a few days now and the swelling has slightly reduced but there is still a lot of pain.
They are planning a thyroidoctomy next week due to my liver and bone marrow. Finally getting sorted x

thank you yes everything’s through the tube now due to the size of my thyroid nothing will get past.I’ve also got to stay in my own room due to very low white blood cells? It’s been quite a week 😂 thank you for your support x
I also read that it reduces white blood cells but so does the thyroid itself I think because of how high it was and all the other symptoms such as heart rate/leg rashes/temperature and the rest they feel it is the actual thyroid causing most of the chaos. But also my bone marrow and liver is not looking great either and because carbimazole did not work either they have just decided to give the surgery. I know I will be under active by this point but starting from the start with this new specialist may help more than what I’ve had with my overactive. They are just managing my symptoms for now until the surgeon is available x
I'm glad you have managed to get to someone better than before. I know straightaway you needed to be admitted ASAP. This wasn't too be ignored! Good luck with the surgery!
