A quick question! I’m settling into NDT at the moment and am on 2 grains. As I transitioned from T4/T3 combo, I kept the dosing pattern the same and currently take NDT in the morning and the early afternoon.
I would like to experiment with taking my NDT in one go to keep life simple. Do you think I can get away with just doing that tomorrow or should I phase it over slowly; e.g. move to 1 1/4 in the morning and 3/4 in the pm until I get there?
I am not sure if the slower method would just spread the agony, but on the other hand the equivalent of 18 mcg of T3 in one hit sounds like rather a lot!
Thanks for any ideas! Xx

How were you taking your T4/T3 combo, were you splitting that? Have you tried taking your NDT all in one go before bed. I’m currently on 100 T4 and 20 T3 which I take in one dose before bed and have found that so much better than splitting and means I can have my cup of coffee when I get up.
I have been taking NDT for over seven years and did try the once dosing idea, but I have always felt better with dosing twice. The first one at 6.30am and the next at 1.30pm. Try it and see it could work for you.
Hi there , I did the same when I first swapped over. I took NDT in morning and a small dose of T3 in afternoons. I read something suggesting there might not be any difference in effect in taking in one dose am. I tried it and found it to be true in my case . That was 3 or 4 years ago and have always been happy with my decision that it's much less to remember!
I Lotika, I made the same change from T4/T3 to NDT - 2 doses in the day and then to one morning dose. I made the change overnight - one day taking it twice and then next all in the morning - I had no problems. I checked this with the endo too and it wasn't a concern.
I would love to take my ERFA just once a day, I also take thyroxine first thing. I have to take calcium and it’s such a pain with the 4 hour spacing when you take two doses of NDT. But I thought the reason for splitting the dose was that it didn’t stay in the body for long? Am I wrong about that?
I recently learned that the half life of T3 in NDT is up to 2.5 days, but it starts having an effect from about 2-3 hours after you take it, as I understand. This chimes with my experience as I find MDT less bumpy than T4 / T3 combo, presumably because my T3 levels are more stable on it. I’m absolutely no expert, mind, as I am new to the NDT game!
