having had a dreadful cough for 2 weeks over Nee Year, I have struggled to get the last remnants off my back so I dig a lot of digging and surprisingly found a recommendation for 1g daily ester C to improve things.
Boy did this turn out to be a great bet - and after less than a week things have genuinely cleared up.
One massive and unexpected bonus is the increase in energy levels which is helping my return to general fitness
So having discounted vit C for decades it may well be. a long term keeper
Well worth another look

I use Acerola Cherry powder and 1,000mg gives 26% Vit C. I also use a Vit C capsule 1,000mg but don't know the percentage Vit C (no longer have the original pack and it may not have said).
I’m a real Vit C lover and over the years have tried all types eventually settling on a buffered form. I have read studies that have found the EsterC to have a more profound effect on WBC’s than other types but it's much more expensive for ongoing use.
I stopped using it a very long time ago because I felt it had no great benefit. In all the comments on this thread there is always great noises for magnesium D and selenium and zinc (sometimes B) but C hardly seems to get a sniff - perhaps it has been written about and I kept missing it?
So never had a nudge to try again- but crikey it should have been on my list all along
Pack simply states 1g vit c with 200mg of bioflavonoid - so not sure what the extra differences are between the brands as they all looked the same to me?
Be aware that Ester C is largely made of calcium ascorbate. About 10% of the weight of calcium ascorbate is made up of calcium.
It is not a good idea to have too high an intake of calcium so be aware of how much you are taking in because it could end up lining your arteries, which is definitely not desirable.
Ascorbic acid Vit C is acidic and why it’s good to take with iron as helps absorption.
Taking with foods will help a sensitive stomach tolerate it better or try ‘ascorbate’ which comes in a buffered form and is gentler on the stomach allowing higher doses.
I take a daily liposomal vitamin c which I credit with having fended off colds and flu for a few years now. It’s really expensive though. I might get as much benefit from high dose regular vitamin c but feel this works for me.
