Novothyral - is it available in Uk?

hi this looks like a great place to ask, can you get Novothyral in England? I’ve just been in Germany and been tested and need to come off my Levothyroxine and start Novothyral, can I get it with a German prescription anywhere or have it prescribed at home? Thanks so much if anyone can help!

Novothyral is almost unobtainable in the UK.

However, I think a handful of people get it privately prescribed (on UK prescriptions) and might manage to get it dispensed by one of the pharmacies listed in the link below.

Afraid I do not know if German prescriptions are accepted anywhere in the UK.

Alternatively, if you contact some German pharmacies, they might be willing to post it to you against German prescriptions. That would almost certainly be the cheapest way of getting Novothyral legitimately. (Assuming you can get repeat prescriptions from Germany.)

Hello Sassy and welcome to the forum :

I thought of taking Novothyral when T4 monotherapy seemed to stop working for me but I'm not aware of being able to purchase without a prescription and not aware we even offer this thyroid hormone replacement option in the UK.

I am now self medicating with Natural Desiccated Thyroid - the original treatment option for hypothyroidism derived from pig thyroid, which contains a set ratio of T3 and T4 in each grain/tablet.

Other people in the UK will be taking a T3/T4 combo by taking T3 - Liothyronine alongside their T4 - Levothyroxine dose and in this way find independently a ratio of T3/T4 that suits them best.
