Does anyone happen to know why those with thyroid problems or heart conditions and those over 60, (I have all three) should speak to their doctor before taking these for motion sickness. A pharmacist who was aware of my medical conditions suggested Kwells for me. Only just read the pil in full. I haven’t been able to discover so far what the concern is, in order to make an informed decision myself. Setting sail a bit later… in rough sea… 🤦♀️😳

i don’t know the medical answer….but if you google ‘boots travel calm’ tablets they are the same active ingredient and the patient leaflet seems to only refer to overactive thyroid.????
I have thyroid and heart problems and am over 60 but I’ve taken Stugeron (travel pills) prescribed by GP and recommended by Pharmacist for vertigo with no problems.
thank you, do you know if they are the same active ingredient?
Neither the Patient Information Leaflet nor the Summary of Product Characteristics mentions thyroid at all :

Where did you find the information that you need to consult your doctor before taking it?
Edit : Just noticed your mention of heart problems - perhaps it is those that might be affected by seasickness pills?
Just found the NHS has some pages on this which does mention the caution about people with heart problems.

Common side effects
These common side effects of hyoscine hydrobromide happen in more than 1 in 100 people. There are things you can do to help cope with them:
Fast heart rate
If this keeps happening after taking hyoscine hydrobromide, speak to a doctor. You may need to change to a different type of medicine.
It may help to cut down on alcohol, smoking, caffeine and big meals, as these can make the problem worse.

It occurred to me that lots of vomiting from seasickness might raise heart rate too. So, it might be swings and roundabouts as to which you decide to risk!
They can interfere with the heart rate. Esspecially an overactive thyriod, and cause palpitations. Hyosine can also be used as an antihistamine, and some antihistamines like piriton can also have the same effect, also decongestants containing pseudoephedrine, stimulate in this way too. You could try an anti sickness wrist band or ask your pharmasist for other anti sickness remedies.
Stugeron-active ingredient cinnarizine also classed as an anti hisamine as previously sugested is a good one. This antisickness tablet is particularly good for longer journeys due to prolonged release so ideal for cruises. You take it 2 hours before travel kwells on the other hand you take before setting out as it works quicker so better for road travel.
thanks everyone for all of your helpful replies
