Four weeks ago I started new batch and accidentally took 3 grains of Arnour instead of 2&1/4 per day for two weeks… (reduced by1/4 in Nov) didn’t feel as bad as would have thought at the time but now feel terrible, comes in waves…boiling hot, Palpations headaches and feel weird… never feel great as not sure NDT for me but trying to persevere!!
Noticed these waves happen 5/6 hours after first dose have to go to bed and lie down, sleep for couple hours… then wake up early morning 6/7 hours after last dose with palpations (pulse 115) hot etc…. Not sure if the over meds are still in system ( wouldn’t have thought so) or if it’s new batch of Armour that’s different!!
Had blood test done by endo week after this happened but unfortunately had taken my dose that morning so results not be accurate( had to wait for secretary to get back to me and said to go that day as couple days before Christmas hols)
Endo rang few days ago said T3 just over range (7) T4 was 14 which has been same for few months and TSH 0.24… but like said not accurate as had meds that day anyway! Got face to face with endo and new bloods next week anyway as he reduced my dose 8th Nov!
I’m really confused … Do you think it could be the dose reduction… the new batch or result of taking too much a month ago… or maybe just bit of everything🤷🏼♀️
There’s a definite pattern with symptoms which not really noticed in the past!
Sorry guys for long essay!

So I think you’re saying you increased by 3/4 instead of reducing by 1/4? What a mess. 🤦♀️ Poor you.
Who knows what’s going on there. I’d suspect the 3/4 increase in dose.
Is this an NHS endo? If it’s private I’d try to rearrange appointment, if NHS, confess you made a mistake with dosage. Endo unlikely to take account of test being taken after meds, so don’t argue, just don’t do it again.
Hi, Thankyou for your reply, yeah we all make mistakes so easy done, glad it’s just not me lol sorry not made it very clear brain fog terrible… the 1/4 decrease by nhs Endo was back on 8th Nov (he was concerned about TSH) but took 3/4 much for two wks in December by accident on opening new batch! Rang the endos secretary to tell them what I’d done as advised by pharmacy… they organised new bloods which was done couple days before Christmas!
I was just wondering if taking too much would make me feel soo bad three wks after (thought t3 didn’t stay long in system but not sure) or maybe the new reduction kicking in!
A lot of messing with doses so no wonder my bodies not sure what’s happening!
I don’t think it’s the higher dose after 3 weeks. T3 has a half life of 12 hours and T4 of 7 days. So the higher dose will be out of your system by now.
Must be the batch, and from your bloods it looks like you need more T4. Have you tried T4 & T3 combo instead of NDT?
Hi yep did have 3 month trial of 100 Levo 10 mcg T3… long story but basically was really unwell with other stuff too (ME/ Fibro flare) only slept in day and awake all night… did ask if I could try different combinations/more time etc but took me straight off… endo saying now that T3 didn’t suit me then so aRmour NDT not going to work neither, but giving me longer to try it 🤞
TSH not been above 14 all the time on NDT but was top of range on Levo…. apparently lot people like this from whst I’ve read on here!
I think 2 weeks is too soon to say anything and as you had taken your Armour before the blood tests there is little point using this information.
I would concentrate on building up your vitamins and minerals - didn't we identify ferritin and folate as needing some attention ?
My ferritin took over a year to build to even over 70 and now 5 years on I still need to supplement all four vitamins and minerals to maintain optimum levels in order to keep a strong core strength and ultimate heath.
Without a strong core strength of ferritin, folate, B12 and vitamin D no thyroid hormone replacement works well.
P.S, Just another thought - I was under the impression after treatment for thyroid cancer initially treatment is with T3 to keep the TSH low suppressed ?
Hi pennyannie good to hear from you again… Thankyou I am working on building vits etc… Gp said didn’t need to supplement ferritin as in range and other iron levels ok🤷🏼♀️ But maybe need to look into this properly! Take one per day Thorne Basic B Complex so hopefully will increase folate… maybe need to check again and double the dose! Taking Vit D and magnesium!
On the TSH comment…I know I totally agree with you but it’s my endo who decreased dose in Nov… feels happier when it’s in range and highlighted all side effects, heart etc… just been to see new Gp she couldn’t understand neither why he changed it!
Feeling like over medicated with bad palpations, terrible migraines, red hot etc but could be under 🤷🏼♀️ just don’t know what’s causing what… just been prescribed HRT as still have menopausal symptoms despite being 62… anti depressants dont work for bad mental health so thought give HRT a whirl… know might need Thyroid meds increasing but need to try something else!
