Mum’s VIT D results

Hi all

My Mum paid for a private VIT D test and her results came back as 49.5 nmol / L.

I have bought her some Nature Provides VIT D and K2 that is in an oil. Could someone help me work out how many drops she will need to take daily.

Thanks

You might want to check out a recent post that I wrote about Vit D and supplementing:

healthunlocked.com/thyroidu...

and you can check out the link to how to work out the dose you need to increase your current level to the recommended level.

Your mom's current level of 49.5nmol/L = 19.8ng/ml

On the Vit D Council's website

web.archive.org/web/2019070...

you would scroll down to the 2nd table

My level is between 10-20 ng/ml

The Vit D Council, the Vit D Society and Grassroots Health all recommend a level of 100-150nmol/L (40-60ng/ml), with a recent blog post on Grassroots Health mentioning a study which recommends over 125nmol/L (50ng/ml).

So now you look at how much is needed to reach 50ng/ml and you'll see that they suggest 4,900iu per day.

With the Natures Provides liquid it tells you that 5 drops = 3,000iu so 1 drop = 600iu. She will need 8 drops which is 4,800iu.

Retest after 3 months then work out whether or not dose needs adjusting. Vit D should be tested twice a year, around October and March/April to see if seasonal adjustment is required.

When taking D3, besides K2-MK7 there is another important cofactor - magnesium, this helps the body convert D3 into it's usable form.

Magnesium which helps the body convert D3 into it's usable form.

There are many types of magnesium so we have to check to see which one is most suitable for our own needs:

naturalnews.com/046401_magn...

explore.globalhealing.com/t...

and ignore the fact that this is a supplement company, the information is relevant:

swansonvitamins.com/blog/ar...

Magnesium should be taken 4 hours away from thyroid meds and as it tends to be calming it's best taken in the evening.

Don't start all supplements at once. Start with one, give it a week or two and if no adverse reaction then add the next one. Again, wait a week or two and if no adverse reaction add the next one. Continue like this. If you do have any adverse reaction then you will know what caused it.

Thank you so much… she is taking magnesium in the evenings but I’ll check which one it is. I really appreciate you working out the dosage, I’m Dyslexic and struggle with working dosages out.
