This year, in April, European asset management group Aurelius completed the acquisition of McKesson UK.

McKesson UK, owner of Lloyds pharmacies, AAH distributor and Northstar, has announced that it has changed its name to Hallo Healthcare Group. Announced September 2022.

Does that mean Lloyds pharmacies on our high streets will soon be called Hallo then?

Honestly don't know.

We've already got Well - are we going to end up seeing up phrases along high streets - Well, Hallo Boots! Or Hallo, Well(ie) Boots?

Dare I say it another company about to go downhill? On the Isle of Wight this summer the local papers were full of complaints about Boots and pharmacy provision. My local small Boots has gone from being a really great little store to now being an unorganised mess - the long-standing staff seem to have left after many years. It’s not the fault of the staff.

The pharmacy in a large Boots in a nearby shopping mall has closed their pharmacy altogether. I couldn’t believe it when I saw that. It looks as if Boots aren’t paying their pharmacists enough money, don’t value the staff they have and can’t recruit skilled staff or maybe it’s just that they are more interested in selling make up and perfume, rather like the Sephora and Marianaud stores you find in France where they just need people to stack shelves and man the tills. Sadly it looks like the days when Boots the Chemist was a respected name on the high street are long gone. .

I’ve just looked them up and discovered Aurelius management group

‘The business trades through three well established banners, Wex in the UK, CameraNu in the Netherlands and Calumet in the rest of Europe, it has a leading online presence across Europe and destination stores in the UK, Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands.’

As keen photographers we’ve bought lots of stuff from WEX and Calumet, WEX are a really good company to deal with - maybe it’s not all gloom and doom 🤞
